How do I read the messages?

On the platform, when walking around, I see a notification in the lower left corner that says "1 inactive mission(s)" and "Messages". I can't figure out how to put the UI in "mouse-mode" so that I can point my cursor at this notification. So, I hit Enter to bring up the menu but I still don't see anywhere to see messages and when I go to the Mission section for Player Information, I do not see an inactive mission.

So, was hoping someone could tell me how to do this or what I'm missing here?

I think there is two tabs for missions.

Shift + space will let you move mouse to the messages. Also, you can access missions from map (M key).

Thanks for the response, folks! Shift-Space only seems to work while in my ship in space. I use it all the time to swtich between mouse steering and cursor control.

Shift-M only appears to bring up my map.

And, yep, I see three tabs for missions: Guild Missions, Other Missions, and Upkeep Missions (these you can get to from the Map screen section). Unfortunately, I see no inactive missions there.

But, no worries, I'm sure it'll get sorted out soon. I could just be a minor bug.

EDIT: I guess I could just wait and check my messages in space, once I'm able to actually use the Shift-Space keystroke.

Press Shift + I to open player information, then select Log Book on the left hand side.
