Buying Antimatter Cells
I'm on the step of the first mission that involves buying a new ship and getting 3x Antimatter Cells. I bought the ship using the funds provided. I found a Antimatter Cell Factory. I've docked at it. However, when I click "Trade" it's just a blank window. There's no information at all indicating if there's anyway to place an order or anything. How do I buy these Antimatter Cells??

I think it is a bug, because the window disappeared for me too,

I docked at the same station i think and then you pull the slider left and you should be able to buy 3x antimatter cells, they are not that expensive.

By the way, this is a mission you will be happy you did, there is a good reward ;-)

TIP..: BE ADVICED, put the antimatter cells in the ship you want to "lose", and fly in that ship and activated the waypoint with it.
I did the opposite and had the cells in my start ship and the game register when i arrive at the waypoint it was the ship i wanted to "blow up".... so i lost my starter ship, and now are in a cheap scout ship... but anyway the reward is worth it ;-)

I'm there right now. This is what it should look like when you dock and click Trade. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1578822631

this might be stupid... but where did you buy the ship? :D

In Eighteen Billion. You don't even need to go to the shipyard. Just find a Wharf on the map, right click it and select Buy Ships. You can remote order everything for it then have the ship fly to you.

It does kind of tell you this. The Antimatter cells are to start the reaction, and he needs a cheap ship to deliver them to the site what will blow up.

Warf. There are 4 directly against the main highway loop. These are TEL, ARG, HOP and PAR.

The ALI and ANT ones are off the beaten path. I think the boron gives you the position of the MIN one but I already explored there so am not sure. XEN ones are obviously no use to you, since they will always want you to be space dust.

So I bought a cheap miner and had it dock at the antimatter factory, jumped in it and tried to trade and got the blank window as well. I'm not sure if its because the miner can't carry any of the things the station is selling or not but I reloaded and am just going to use the starter ship to do it. I could buy the cells using that ship.

Great. So it's a bug then. I do NOT get those sliders. Just a blank window. I even restarted with a brand new game (its the first mission after all - doesn't take long) and no change. Blank trade window. No sliders. Nothing.

Mining ships are not cheap. You want a cheap S ship, preferably a scout for around 100k.

Secondly you clearly forgot to check the cargo capacities before buying... Antimatter cells are container cargo so need container storage. Even scout ships have container storage, more than enough for the required number of cells. The only ships without container storage at all are solid and liquid miner ships which have some of the appropriate solid and liquid storage. Solid storage is used only for minerals and liquid only for gasses. No mine ship can ever be used for the mission because no mine ships can carry antimatter cells. You could use a standard trade ship, but again it is wasteful when a simple cheap 100k scout will suffice.

To trade for the cells, first select your container capable ship, then right click the amtimatter cell factor and click the trade with option. Now one can drag the slider to fill it with antimatter cells, assuming sufficient free cargo space remains.

Here's what I see when I open the trade window. Nothing.
I'm used to X games shipping with bugs, but come on. This is the first mission chain. WTH.

Or find them randomly abandoned in mine fields. I keep getting M ships that way...

I think this is indeed a bug because when I first tried to buy them it worked. Then I died and had to reload. When I wanted to buy them again I got the blank window aswell.

Also, how do you know which type of cargo the ship can hold (except when you buy it)?

@DrSuperGood Not one of the S tier ships that I saw in the ship yards had more than one type of storage.

I can confirm the cheaper mining ship is not capable for this kind of cargo and therefore you get a blank trade screen. Try it out with the right ship for the right cargo and the trading works
