This message stays on the screen when steering mode is enabled. This is annoying. I understood it the first time, no need to show it constantly!

X:Rebirth had a setting to disable that message. I will be very surprised if X4 doesn't have the same configurable option.

I'll admit the setting was a bit non-obvious. It Rebirth it is found here:

Settings > Game Settings > Expert Settings - Use with Caution! > Show Control Mode Messages > on/off

So be on the lookout for a "Control Mode" setting. It's also weird Egosoft labeled that under "Expert Settings" with the warning to "Use with Caution!"

thanks found it. i remember the time in rebirth i used a mod to get rid of the message bc. i didn´t find any option in the settings.

Game settings -> Show control mode message (Experts).

Though no idea what they flagged it as a Experts option. Maybe to stop new players who have never played the game from just blindly disabling it before even playing and then complaining there's no control mode indicator?

Settings -> Game Settings -> Show Control Mode Messages (Experts). It's the third option from the bottom.
