In reality the fact that X games do that in real time especially WITH SETA on and all that nice graphic going on at the same time is kinda proof how simplified it has to be to even work :) it didn't in X3 (by no means I say it's not an achievement to make it work)
performance wise... not sure. If VR version exists... it's doable even for consoles.
I believe there are other reasons why it is not done besides "consoles can't handle it"
no. There are attention needing games. Plus consoles-originated checkpoints (and PC save-wise arguments "but I need to leave now") also say otherwise. If you think gamers are not playing console games for more then 15 minutes, think again.
not really. You are just saying "FPS can't be played with controller so no FPS will ever come on consoles". Yet there they are. You just adapt. I've never experienced "loosing money" in X game EVER. Money only keep up. You can't loose much even when not paying attention (all those shows I've watched during X2 sessions :) )
so you are saying no person with real life and family can ever play any X-game, right? :)
oh, but it is. The UI as I've seen is pretty clean. In flight mode you can only fly. Everything else is done on map with context menus. That's controllable with controller and I'm sure there will be complete controlling scheme for those. I wouldn't want to use it but then I didn't want to use Elite's UI with joystick either. But what other choice you have with VR covering your eyes? Menus, no matter how complex, are easy to control. The pain is navigation, but I've handled even that. X4 with it's 2D map looks much much easier.
actually reason of their existence is the demand for single purposed on/off box for gaming demanding zero technical knowledge or maintenance. It doesn't really say anything else, about games, about genres, about friends...
then you should probably reevaluate that because it's kinda mislead. Consoles are just same computers, now even with the same architecture as PC.
You think Kerbal Space Program or No Man's Sky are "short"? And that your goal is just to kill one enemy or collect few resources and not a week long projects? :) Funny. ARK maybe?
characters and plottwists like a X-Game, ok :)
FYI X-games are not that complex. They have simple rules, don't need exactly much brain to build an empire. Factory building and money earning is pretty straightforward compared to other games that makes my head hurt (like Factorio for example) or have complex or more tight economy (like EVE).
They just have messed up UI after all those years of features adding to the point the parts no longer fit the platform. Rebirth + X4 FTW.
Shortcuts are shortcuts. You never needed that many keys to control the X game. You used most simply because they were menu shortcuts. That's all.
GW2 doesn't need that many keys to control either yet using chat without all those is not pleasant :)
And a lot of games have line o icons you can click or ... faster .. press a key. That doesn't really count.
There are only few games where you are sewerely punished for not knowing all existing shortcuts: Starcraft 2, Linux, Dwarf Fortress.
What else? Oh, whilst we're at porting it to consoles, what about multiplayer? Want Battle Royal, too?
Just my 5 cents. :-)
Really glad it was built for PC first and then if it requires next gen consoles fine.
Hope this is the way it is anyway.
