Will there be a console release as well?
I know about the opinions concerning releasing an X Game on consoles, so please don´t bother with noting that XR was a failed try porting the game to consoles or stuff like that.

Is there an official statement from egosoft concerning a release of x4 on ps4 or xbox one? perhaps later, after a stable pc version was released?

thanks so far

I'm guessing not very soon no, since this game is obviously made with pc in mind judging by the UI and the way it is played. X:R was more of an excercise in console releases for Egosoft i think, and that was a totally different game because of it.

The engine should be quite supportive for it though, so it could be released on console. Although I don't know how consoles handle Vulkan based engines though...

It is a PC release as all X games has been, after that, priority seems to be always OS and then Linux. So far consoles have never been able to run the X games with a decent performance.

I believe (I may be wrong) that only Nintendo Switch does support Vulkan at present. Could probably be "easy" for the X Box, no idea about Playstation. But no, do not expect a console release.
For the sake of game quality, immersion, and depth. I hope console isn't even a wink of dust in Egosofts eye.

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: Previous posts.

X games have always been CPU intensive. They are running a large simulation. Consoles have always focussed on GPU and graphics. The current XBox one X has a decent GPU but not a great CPU. So no there will not be a console release because the hardware (CPU) lags behind PCs.

To be fair though answer to this has always been to throttle down console releases. Limit them to low FPS, and reduce performance settings across the board to make a pc game run on PC. Could easily do a reduction in cpu usage by simply dumbing down the game, lowering number of active traders or the way calculations are made, making the console version less of a good simulation game and allowing it to be pretty eye candy.

No, and i hope that there never will be. Games that have to be made with respect to a console ALWAYS sacrifice some of their scope, ambition and visual for the sake of some hardware trash called a console that will be replaced in a few years anyway. X has ALWAYS been a PC only exclusive, and im happy that its one of the few games that will STAY that way. Get a better comp and stop whining peasant.

It is a valid and polite question, and please drop the name calling as it is not necessary. Many thanks.

Agreed.

It should be, question is whether its on the current gen consoles or next-gen.

There's really no reason not to given how the architecture of consoles is moving closer to what's used for PC games as they iterate.

Companies dont sacrifice anything when making console versions, they do take shortcuts however. Thats an issue with the company, not the platform.

This type of game just doesnt work for consoles. If you want to have it, you need to dumb down the game a lot and make it easier to play with less buttons. (aka not using keyboard)
Then its lowering the grafics......

Well there are some mobile game ports on switch that i can think of as a space game:

I'm not sure why people think you need a million menu's to play a decent space sim. I liked the X3 entries, but the UI was ***** terrible.

Streamlined =/= dumbed down.

Pleazze show me another Game with the Scope and Moddability like an X Game in X4 Genre,
Simulated Sandboxx Strategy this complexx is only found withing the X-Series.

Getting it tooled into any other Platform than PC is a hassle of serious porportions.

The hole Point for Console is to drop in play some and get on with something else quickly. Loading the last Save and battle the next level or rebattle to get some more Artifacts or find the unfindable. Trying this with X in the earliest Stages of the Game is difficult, in the middle an later Stages of any X Session this will become impossible. All the Threads left behind the last Time around have to be picked up properly or U loose huge amounts of Money and Time, Mess up Your Empire building !!

Using any Console Released is simply not up to the task of handling of making this a workable Project in regards the Time it takes the Player to get up to speed after the latest Save has been loaded.

The Input Capabilities of any Console are severly limited. Trying all the KB Shortcuts a PC can handle ported over to a Console is not even worth thinking about !!

The Structure of any Console forces Games to be as simple as possible.

Console Games are meant to Shine and having a blast with Friends is the Main Reason for their Xistance.

Console Games are like Comic Books for me, Short and entertaining for a little while but for proper lasting fun I need a big Novel with lots of Characters andd Plotwists like a X-Game, I need Weeks for a Session to properly end with the Task I set out to accomplish.

I never found a Console Game that could accomplish that for me !!

Your kinda missing the point a bit. If you need 100 different inputs to play effectively, there's something horribly wrong with your UI.

Moddings a different subject though, if you like using/making mods then yes PC's are designed for that sort of work. Using mods isnt a technical limitation on consoles, but getting them onto consoles in the first place has technical hurdles and also business hurdles (like Sony's anti-mod stance).
