Customizing your player name and outfit?

I hope not. This is not skyrim lol, it's a space sim with some basic FPS support (walking around, etc)

They said in one of the Xcon videos that you cant change the characters name or appearance. Each start has a set character (you can be Teladi and Paranid too). You can upgrade your space suit though, so that is at least some customisation.

I would at least like to be able to change my characters name tbh.

Since X4 has no Coop or MP Function having a customized Name or Outfit to set you apart from the other Players is moot. As a Mod for Gamers prefering a different name maybe but and Outfit is kind of Pointless since this is not a Roleplaying Game, why bother ?

A Paintshop Factory for customized Shiphull Designs however would be greatly apprecciated !!

So theres no point to naming a character outside of multiplayer games?
Many people approach almost all games as rpgs, I do. You are playing a character after all... just being to have at least a little bit of control over that character is appreciated a lot by these people.

If you like to customize Name and Outfit nobody is stopping You, Exept maybe ES. Sadly U a correct about thr RPGS Statment, I clearly don´t like that, but have to Exept that other People prefer to play that Way.

No character creation/customization? Disappointing, a lot of things in this game looked amazing and i was pretty excited, but as a general rule of thumb i usually only buy a game if i can customize my character. I'm sure many people will enjoy the game regardless and that's fine but i really need muh customization so this will probably be a pass for me.

that's a weird thing to hope for, customization is kinda the whole point of this type of game.

If only, m8. If only.... We've requested this much, but get all kinds of reasons why it can't happen. Best you can do is go in Custom game mode and pick a face CLOSEST to what you like.

Yeah custom is the closest you got to a normal character creator. It is kinda weird how it isn't in a game like this. 'Mount and blade but in space' yet it kinda lacks the ability to let you fully immerse in a character idea you have for a playthrough.

I agree character customization is part of immersion. Even OpenTTD lets the player have some control over their CEO portrait and name. With all the power and assets used in X4, it's just baffling they don't support any customiztion for the player avatar. Yes, even in an offline single-player game, I would like to look different than what's offered.
