Ship types, ship sizes?
Are there any more infos on those few ships/ship types and sizes as i could see in the streams and presentations?

What is the biggest ship i can fly or control? Capital size transport ship?

I would assume they'd model x3 since this is called x4 and allow all ships like in x3. Still not determined if they are offering as many ships as x3 though. I beleive there are fewer races and I assume fewer weapons and ship components/upgrades since the number in rebirth were far fewer than x3.

Far as I know all ships can be flyed or controlled, as for the bigger one, we still do not know which one is it.

I'm guessing they're going to keep the size categories they introduced in X:R (XS to XL). I liked this as it didn't pigeonhole ships into a specific category. Of course, X3:AP did a pretty good job of making the ship classes pretty meaningless with the amount of variety in each.

I hope they will make two optional UI for player choices at beginning. one for classic categories M5 M4 M3 etc, another for new categories S M L etc.
(if they don't I guess some modders will make it?

I'm sorry but those "classic" categories were rediculous. What was the order again? M5, 4, 3, 6, 7, 8, 2?? Eeesh. Maybe make some easter eggs use 5436782 but otherwise, lose it.

P.S. Plus dropping it will make it safer for fans to use it as their PIN number. ;)

Lol. I guess that system is so engrained in my mind I never thought to even suppose it could be confusing to new people to the games.

Once you got used to the classifications you just slapped a label on them like I did.

M5 = Scout
M4 = Light Fighter
M3 = Medium Fighter
M3+ = Heavy Fighter
M8 = Bomber
M6 = Corvette
M7 = Frigate/Cruiser
M7M = Missible Frigate/Cruiser
M2 = Destroyer
M2+ = Battleship
M1 = Carrier
M1+ = Super Carrier
TS = Small Cargo Transporter
TL = Large Transporter (though in the X3 games this is what you transported stations in to where you wanted a station built, In XR they turned into the small cargo transporters MUCH bigger brother. They shifted the TL class over to the Station Construction Vessel which sadly did not match up to the in game encylopedia text where the ship gets deconstructed once the station was fully built, in essence becoming the station itself.)

There are a few more classes I'm missing but you get the gist of it.

The categories were "grown".
If I am not mistaken, originally all M-classes were M1-M5. These are ordered just fine. There's also some story M0s, which fit in too.
M6, M7, M8 got added later - keeping the order would have required the other classes to be renamed, which could have been confusing for veterans of the series.

Yea, I agree that it's a little confusing, but it's few enough to remember. I do hope they redo the calss-names to be ordered, but I'd probably enjoy it anyway.

These are confirmed for X4?

No, X4 will not use the X3 ship classifications. The ships will "simply" be S M L and XL. Within each group there are ships with different (sometimes overlapping) purposes. But they won't have the detailed (complicated) naming scheme above. Although I'm sure the community will start to label ships as such quickly.

Especially the veteran X-Series players.
