Likely sectors to find Shield component fabs?

So I'm trying to build some more ships but the production has stalled out and I'm trying to find a shield component factory IOT supply the wharf. Does anyone know a likely place to find one of these?

Your best bet is to go to the map, filter for the shield component, and zoom out. It should show you where a factory is selling them for and for the lowest price. Then have your captain make the run!

As above, but if you still don't see any, then perhaps your knowledge of known space is lacking and you'll have explore each sector some more.
Also, make sure to place a satellite nearby to stations or station clusters so that data about station stocks/trade offers remain current. Without these you will constantly have to return to update current data.

Factory placement is different in every game start, so you'll just have to go exploring around.

All you need is:
+5 scout ships (or traders if you cant build those due to faction lack of materials or just get Nodans)
+full satelites on each ship

Order each of them to follow a different ship near highway. Once they are spread enogh and if they still didnt find a station, manualy order them to fly in sector in spiral. Its the best way to scout the sectors. Then once you find a station, just tell them to drop a satelite.

Also get S.E.T.A. so you can do this afk.

Cheers for the advice, It seems that some of the stations are randomised in each start.
There wasn't any with a safe travel corridor to Argon Prime however after 15 hours I have just built a factory and so has an NPC to supply that area.

Sorry to bump, but how do you filter for a specific item? There are so many filters and they are confusing. I too need to find shield components.

Upper right corner of the map, that symbol that looks like a funnel is the filter option. You can add wares and set various other parameters as well.

Thanks. I've been flying around looking for a shield component factory but have been unable to find one. I only looked for about 30 minutes last night, but I have no clue which system will have it so I'm just flying blind looking at all of them...one at a time. Very time consuming.

Trade stations may also carry shield components. 'I'd check those also. Course, somebody has to supply the trade stations, but there could be some shield factory hiding somewhere in the corner of a sector and you wouldn't know about it without very good scouting.
