Destroyer recommendations
I’m looking to purchase my first destroyer and I want some advice on how to proceed.

I’m assuming sentinel is the best choice, but which faction has the best destroyer for going out and clearing xenon areas or at least countering their stronger incursions into space?

What’s the best turrets for countering missiles and fighters?

All depend on what you plan to do with ..
For fighting xenon Sentinel class is a good choice, because more hull, but less crew ( no a big deal because you're not gonna board anything wich can get you in trouble if you try it on other faction but not so much hard after all )
About weapons, i personnaly love to use the pulsion ( just because i love it ) but, laser is more accurate and better for drone and missile ( any fast moving target ... )
As main turret i can only suggest you the plasma :D and i think almost everyone can tell you the same ^^
For countering xenon i don't use Bhemoth at all ( i have a lot but for war action, not defending area ) actually i use the coloss as leader with a lot of pulsar, 4 repeater, 1 Ion and 1 Plasma wich allow them to fight any kind of target, with that i'm able to use them for eveything, taking down station, large ship or any fighter !

Hope that can help you and answer your question ( and sorry if my english is bad :D )

point ist dont engage xenon frontal... come from the side and you can hald their offensive potential bye shooting the turrets... they are large and poor shilded once you got em go for engines and you got a sitting duck.

Vanguard is generaly more mobile and better. More hp wont matter as if enemy goes under your shields it will hurt anyway. And you should totaly upgrade to teladi shields + manual more shield upgrade.

Phoenix is great for a solo station destroyer as its frontal armor absorbs a lot of rockets from stations if you get to close. (tank)
Behemoth works well against smaller ships --- but its totaly outgunned by xenon destroyers and you need to keep them at 7km range. (sniper)
Odysseus is probaly the best option for a starting ship. And it has a lot of turrets (but paranid turrets are pretty weak when it comes to damage absorb) You can also dock a trade/frigate ship on it unlike other 2. (mg)

But the general rule to use on destroyers:
Paranid engines
Teladi shields
Plasma weapons on the largest turrets
One rocket launcher on back of Odysseus (as it wont be able to hit, unless you move to side)
Light weapons on small turrets that fire fast to take out rockets and smaller ships.
Full repair crew

Each ship does have their weapon position different. Behemoth wont be able to hit front targets that come to close (like 700m)

My favorite is the Odysseus Vanguard cause of all the guns it has, the placement of the main batteries, and mobility. However, the Behemoth Vanguard is really cheap to make but the only advantages it has is 3 L shield gens instead of 2, and 4 S docking bays.
