Ultrawide 21:9 Is Stretched
Hi,

Is anyone else having an issue with ultrawide stretching toward the left and right side of the screen? I've seen this before where games don't fully support it but from what I have read in forums it should. Everything looks fine in the center but if you turn you can notice the same object that was centered stretches out.

Thank you.

I'm using a 21:9 monitor and I think what you're describing has to do with the field of view. Objects warp as they move toward the edge of the screen. Your camera into the world isn't flat. It's like a bowl. The higher the field of view, the more pronounced the curvature of the bowl.

This isn't as noticeable on smaller monitors because the aspect ratio is closer to 1:1, but on ultrawide monitors, the effect becomes pretty noticeable.

Thanks for the response. I looked into it and you're right. For some reason it just seemed worse in this game.

You might want to try 3x1 in Portrait mode instead of Landscape (ultra-wide). I switched to it 4-5 years ago for gaming and won't go back. It still gives you massive screen real estate, while also being far more compatible with 16:9/16:10 aspect ratio approximation.
