[SOLVED] Where do lock box contents go when your other ships pick them up?

When I'm in a ship and collect a lock box the contents go into my inventory but I have a few explorer ships running round the sectors which I instruct to pick up the lock boxes, and they are doing.

When I've transferred to these ships I can't see where the lock box loots is stored. In a gaming session I know one ship picked up 4 or 5 but I've got no idea where it's stored

Searching round the forums the last week or so and I've seen the question asked a few times but no answers.

Would appreciate advice?

Pretty sure they go into the inventory of the ship’s pilot. The only way I know to reliably transfer it is to have them deposit it at the PHQ and then go withdraw it from there.

I find it easier to Teleport between the various ships that have collected inventory. See the top menu 'Ships with Inventory' then teleport from one to the other collecting the inventory from the Pilots.

It is good to check that menu item every so often to make sure your ships are not flying around with illegal stuff. Although as a precaution I have those collectors set to comply with Police.

Last Teleport I make is to a station with a selection of Traders to get the best price for the goodies :).

How do you collect it from them, is there a transfer command I've been missing? I've tried having them drop the items then manually pick them back up but that hasn't worked.

Teleport to the ship and stand behind the Pilot. Click on Talk [NOT Use[ then follow that menu for your choices. If the Pilot has not collected any Inventory the item does not appear on the Menu. Always remember the Pilot might have collected illegal wares and dropped them when challenged.

Aha! We're getting somewhere with this. I tried Harrison's advice and it worked. My pilots dropped their inventory at my station - I couldn't pick it up without buying it but guessing that its my money anyway then its not a problem!? (Buying it from myself) :)

Teleported round my other ships I use for exploring and tried mmmcheesywaffles method but none of them had the option to give me their inventory. Might have been because they dropped it, if illegal, as noted, but I'll give it a good go tomorrow as a backseat driver to one of my ships.

hmm I think perhaps you made a little mistake about buying. Here is what you do.

With you back seat driving tell your Pilot to Collect in an area [easiest to find are those areas where miners are releasing lots of Spacefly eggs].

Then get him/her to dock at your PHQ and deposit the inventory.

Now use the Transporter to go to the Science Lab. On the left hand wall there is a tube that when selected offers you access to your Inventory store.

That store will keep stuff for you that will not appear in your shipboard inventory until you collect it again from THAT TUBE. Any Trader you talk to will happily sell you any wares he /she has but that is NOT your inventory unless you buy it from them.

So the good news is, if you misunderstood, you may have a nice little nest egg of inventory sat waiting for you.

I often travel on the back seat and Police seem not to notice my bagfull of illegals. So I usually only use the inventory store in the PHQ for certain inventory. Some missions let you make a lotg of money for say 1x Space Caviar. So I usually place a few items such as those rarer crafted items in the 'bank' ready to cash in if a mission comes up.

As I visit my PHQ frequently to set my Venture ship I just call in at the bank when needed to deposit or collect items. I also keep a good supply of crafted EMP bombs ready too.
