ADD - Pirating is more a Fun thing then making Money... You will see later in Game what i mean with that. Have Fun!
Why wouldn't I have a shipyard? I'm not going to war with every faction at once. I simply buy the shipyard blueprint from one of the others to build my own.
But I agree that there seems no way to get equipment and weapon blueprints without buying them. Altough I could just mount a Tladi gun on a Paranid ship. X4 seems less restrictive in this regard, compared to X3 (think about the Teran ships only able to mount Teran guns).
And it looks like you can buy most weapon blueprints on pirate bases too, even for some S and M class ships. I only checked Pact of Scale Plate Green, I guess other pirate factions offer a different subsett of blueprint.
And, I think I just partially answered my own question.
I don't do it for the money. This time, it's personal. If I have to fly with scrap metal wielded togherter, with weapons that fell off the truck or found in the junk, then so be it. Maximizing the revenue is not my goal. I have just enough factories to not be broke all the time.
This is just the story of my current game, everyone makes their own.
I honestly don't see a problem. Raise your rep and buy the ship blueprints.
As for playing pirate, do as you wish although I cannot see the point. Play at being a pirate once the Xenon have been pushed back to their own sectors, but not until then.
Besides, once you get shipbuilding and selling, you can be making a billion+ credits per day which kinda makes piracy a little hobby on the side.
The point is that it's the fun part for me. Making bilions of credits is not my goal. If that's the fun part for you, then thats good for you. I just want my own little pirate base, since Scale Plate are ♥♥♥♥♥ even after joining them, steal a ship here and there, rebuild the ships I chrashed into astroids, and sell some space weed to Teladi teens.
I didn't ask how to get rich as a prirate but how to rip even the last bit of technology from the cold dead hands of my victims.
Personally, making billions is child's play and not my objective. It's just a means to an end.
My objective to to be able to put together enough forces to push the Xenon back and consolidate faction space as well as supply Argon/ANT and HOP/PAR with whatever they need to hold the Xenon at bay. If the Xenon are not stopped, there won't be anything to pirate o.O
Well that's not really the point... They must get keept under control. Cause as far that i did read they have some undestructable Stations. And what IF you could Kill them all? Then the other Races would only start to Kill each other even more... (God - somehow stupid this behavior)
@Takiro - Like i said in my 1. Post - Good Luck... Have Fun!!! Thats all that matters. (BTW - Im Member of the PGS to, but well im Member of all you can be in Game)
On a holy crusade burning down Xenon Stations in Teladi Space.
The Task takes ages but by the Pontifex Maximus we will prevail!
The Ai (War Reports) build Stations can be destroyed but takes time.
n a couple a Days i give it another try and push into a pre owned xenon Sector and see if indeed there is a fail safe.
I cleared them all out of Hatikvah's Choice, Holy Vision and Ianimus Zura IV. I have pushed them back to their own sectors. I'm currently holding them there, but I have no plans to destroy them at all. It isn't necessary and they may actually be useful...
You have to play a bit more and see the meta game ;)
With the Xenon held at bay, I do not see all out war between the different factions. There is a somewhat increased expansion which is causing a little tension, but nobody is killing anyone.
There is peace of a sort, and should any hostility break out, all I have to do is allow the Xenon to leak back into faction space again ;)
...and my point remains valid. If the Xenon are not dealt with, they will consume the other factions and then piracy will be redundant.
Would be interesting to see both alternatives play out to see what happens, both if you keep the Xenon suppressed and if you just let them run rampant. In my save the Xenon are laying waste to Hatikvah's Choice I and the PAR are keeping the khaak from undocking anything at their station. I haven't really decided how I want to respond to this universe yet. On one hand, keeping them suppressed would allow me to empire build and free trade easier. But on the other hand, it might be interesting to have to eradicate a dominant Xenon presence throughout the universe too.
In my game Xenon took over all Teladi Systems up to Silent Witness 1. They only Spared Hewa's Twin 5 for some reason and already nocked on the doors of Grand Exchange, leaving my universe with only three Teladi owned Systems. Argon eventuelly pushed back Xenons after they came to Silent Witness 1. Silent Witness 1 and Eighteen Billion are now Argon sectors, Profitcenter Alpha was temporaly Argon, then MIN and is now Teladi again (Paranids tryed to get their Hands on it too). Paranid pushed Xenons back too and took over Light Promise and Hewa's Twin 1 (Hewa's Twin 1 is now owned again by Teladi).
Aparently Telady military force was just not equiped to deal with a lot of Ks and some Is. With my help my fellow Teladis could get some sectors back but a few are stil Xenon or are now Argon or Paranid. At least Teladi managed to get hold of some Xenon sectors in return (like Matrix #451 and Company Regard).
In the southern sectors HOP did a good job and held the Xenon back but they are now loosing sectors to Antigone and Paranid. HOP is probably gone soon since they don't have any access to a shipyard, warf or any resources, at the moment.
I guess if I would have done nothing. Xenons would have been stopped by Argon and Paranid forces after all Teladi have been whiped out, leaving a huge number of sectors in deep red. Then Argons and Paranids would have started expanding their territories into the Xenon sectors (what was once Teladi Space). HOP would still have a good time since the invasion on their sectors started only after Xenons stopped being an iminent thread to Argon/Antigone and Paranid.
