X4 ships boarding/capturing and mods
Hi everyone,

I'm sure most people that discuss in this forum are big fans of X3:TC or its predecessor. My question to the devs:

In X3:TC, boarding/capturing a ship requires marines to fight ship to ship. Will we see similar features in X4:F either AI boards automatically or we get our hands dirty as one of the marines and fight in enemy ships in order to capture it and add to your fleet? Back then, I really enjoyed flying around in a transport and capture bigger ships whenever possible and it's something I felt that gave me the true sense of piracy in the game.

Secondly, what I love about X3:TC is the fact that there are tons of mods for the game which I have replayed new campaigns many times with different mods. Will we see X4:F being a mod friendly game as well?

Thanks!

I would definitely like to see changes to capturing ships. The mechanics for capturing in Rebirth were pretty nice but I would like to see more done. Capturing ships is extremely lucrative so, IMHO, it should also be extremely dangerous.

A ship is never more easy to capture than when it has just been captured. I would love to see some crew member be smart enough to hide away in the ship then, as soon as your gunships fly away, call for help and bring in a bunch of ships from the rightful owner. (Come to think of it - reinforcements in battles would be handy all around.)

Or perhaps the pirates (you know there's going to be some) will have some tricks up their sleeves. How about a time bomb? As long as the ship gets into the pirate owner's port at least once every couple of days to be reset, all is well. If you capture the ship, you'll have time to load it up with rare weapons, some expensive crew members, and then... BOOM!! Hope the ship wasn't parked in one of your stations at the time. Maybe you should have had the ship chopped up for parts (and a lot less profit) instead.

Hopefully, marines (and their equipment?) are going to matter. There should be a difference between a strong and smart Paranid marine and a weaker Teladi marine (if the actually have marines and don't rely on mercenaries).
