From this thread:
FreeType6.DLL Issues

If you see a freetyp6.dll error in your output_log.txt it means your vcredist installation is corrupted.

* Go to C:\windows\system32
* Rename msvcr100.dll to something else
* Run <steam>\steamapps\common\Endless Space 2\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\vcredist_x64.exe
* REBOOT

This will reinstall the dll causing the conflict.

msvcr100_clr0400.dll is the only dll that's close to the one listed that I could find on my computer. There's no msvcr100.dll it seems.

Then just run vcredist_x64.exe, from the location given above. That just means it somehow was never installed in the 1st place, OR was somehow uninstalled after.

Topic rather old,
but since this thread was somehow promoted by google :steamfacepalm:

I brought it to life by
* downloading the 64bit VC Redistributable from Microsoft
(currently https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2010-vc-100-sp1-no-longer-supported)
* executing from the location mentioned above
<steam>\steamapps\common\Endless Space 2\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010

But the main caveat here was obviously to use exactly the 2010 SP1 version 10.0.40219.325, others weren't accepted anymore, maybe because no longer downward-compatibility.
Since they were missing, I decided to create the folders \_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\ manually. But maybe this is not necessary.

All those redistributables were moved to another folder, so that they don't need to be downloaded individually by every game.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\
