I am Sami by blood and I don't mind these at all. Bought them because I like seeing something familiar in game.
I thought it's ukrainian folk clothing
Not sure what sour apple you bit in, but as a Sami, we're 100% native. I don't mind these items at all, although they could have been designed better
Same. Honestly, I couldn't care less, and the only people whining about cultural appropriation are typically non-indigenous people.
I think it's cool that they took inspiration from our stuff so that more people are exposed to it, given how little people know about us.
Would've preferred it if they kept some more of the original cut and patterns of whatever type of gákti they used as a reference, as the cut and shape is quite important to the look.
For anyone who's seen, worn or made one, the inspiration is quite obvious.
Shame they didn't name the sami inspiration, as I would've loved it if they shared some history along with the cosmetics!
The Americans are the whiners, as per usual...
But I agree, the cut and style of the ribbons is quite ugly!
They should've made traditional leather and luhkka-style cosmetics instead, as that's easier to replicate, and the decorations could be customised more easily.
I made my own luhkka with a pretty and intricate ribbon pattern on the front and hood, and I think something like it could've looked great in a game like FF. Especially if they added more detailing with silver lace or something fantasyesque.
