I would be playing this game a lot more if you took out the sub requirment for the base game.

people really do need to stop complaining about the sub, have you seen how literally every other mmo has turned out that doesn't use a sub? even eso essentially has a sub unless you want to be locked out of half the game and all end game content.

That's not even close to being the same thing, since it allows you to simply pay ONE time to access whatever DLC pack you want. You mindless drone. If this game wasn't called Final Fantasy then it wouldn't have a monthly fee. It's as simple as that.

@BloodMist then go play your free to play pay to win mmos that are littered with microtransactions and stop complaining about the mmos that DO have subs. FFXIV is an amazing game that doesn't need to stoop to scummy greedy tactics because of how well received and well funded it is due to it having a sub requirement. i would rather pay 15 dollars a month to play a game with a dev team that treats its playerbase right than play a game like black desert online lmfao

Of corse its not same thing what they mean is (least i think) that free to plays are kinda pay walled hard as well:
most usually gear upgrade boosters +10/+15 gears that are needed for content or
Cosmetics or costumes or and mainly
always changing and updating AND mainly EXPENSIVE gacha or loot box systems
sure you dont need any of those with the free to play games but you do have to agree these games are much more unfair for free to play users and lets not forget that free to play games usually have toxic corrupted economy (in game currency)over massive prices.
I dont say pay to play games are perfect theyr not but are usually much more fair content vise than free to play games that force you to waste tons of time farming wasting time on RNGs or pay out to really make progress.

Pass for me after playing since beta - Finally got away after the house I Finally got was sold ect after the latest update , customer support said nothing they could do - so bye bye money for square =( so sad - lol much better now that I'm not taking 15 mins to kill a lvl 1 bug at lvl 100

Sure man, it's almost as if you couldn't be bothered to check my account and see that ffxiv is one of my least played games. I don't know what you're trying to defend, but you're making yourself sound like a fool

How do I activate it? I'm trying to log in and it just tells me that I don't have a sub. I haven't played since the end of january, been wanting to buy a sub just haven't been able to :(

I got excited cause my sub is about to run out. Then I got sad when I read that it had to be inactive for at least 30 days... rip the usefulness of this to current players...

Kinda feels like a party, you get the invitation and show up, but your the wrong race so you get kicked out. Unneccessary. I get why, they dont want to give free days to current players because they see that as a sink hole. But seems unneccessary in terms of actually being kind to player loyalty by offering them a share in the event. I don't care, but just in the back of my head, behaviourally I was just taught, "square-enix doesn't think I deserve 8 days free," which feels pretty weird to think. Not a heavy burn, but still teaching to dismiss square as non-connective. Surely the risk reward to offering the event to current players must be MASSIVE as to not join them in the event.

Dunno... it's made me seriously sit down and ponder why mmos exclude current players from new/returning player events. At least in some games, it makes you see the players who log in over that weekend as freeloaders, because they are "different" to you. They generally don't know whats going on, so they need to be carried, which is fine, but you also get nothing whilst they get most things. Either they find a new game they love, get some free time in it, etc. I guess we get shorter queue times? That's meant to be our reward...

I'm going to be an arsewhole and say that some current players are probably unable to pay their bills because of coronavirus and waiting to get on government benefits in their country (think the wait time in the US is over 2 weeks to get through to the benefits department to apply). Not including paying customers in a world where some people arn't able to pay their bills right now due to being fired due to corona, seems a bit harsh. Probably wasn't discussed through, and this "extended event" was planned to get in new corona-lockdown players, rather than benefit all people affected by corona.

Same issue. I get redirected to Square Enix's Mog Station. I haven't played since Heavensward, so I'm wondering if that's anything to do with it?

Edit: To rephrase, I haven't played since Heavensward, and haven't purchased the most recent expansion.
