FFXIV wont launch

It keeps cutting to menu. I can't even get to launcher.

Cutting to menu....? You mean desktop?

In my experience it's usually one of two things:

1) Bad files. Reinstall the game or somehow repair the game files.

2) IP conflict. Probably SE's security has your IP flagged or something and is now denying your computer access.

To verify if this is the problem, renew your IP via the Command Prompt. This is assuming you are on a wireless connection. If your computer has a wired connection then good luck. I don't know what you can do about it.

yea, i would know aswell what they mean with "cutting to menu" o_o.
since they say "cant even get to launcher" ehm ... so this means, you press play in steam? nothing happens and the button turns back to "play" o-o?

in anycase, you could try the XIV launcher.
you have to google it tho since moderation here in the forum for some reason doesnt likes it when it gets directly linked.
its probably because of the pinned rules that no 3rd party stuff should get directly posted.

anyways, google XIV launcher, make REALLY sure that you are on their official site.
like join their discord server for example and ask a mod for an official link if you are not sure.

cause XIV launcher had last year problems with a fake site.
ever since recomment they to join their official discord and getting a link from a mod etc. if you arent to 100% sure or not trusting it too 100%.

I also can't launch the game, but my issue is after clicking Play using the FFXIV launcher. The .exe opens and suddenly closes before even showing the title screen

What is your graphics card? as your issue might be different compared to what the OP experiences.

You might be running the 582.28 (security update) driver which does cause some issues regarding compatibility with different games and you would need to downgrade to 581.80

There are no alternatives for the older cards as NVIDIA has to fix it but they very likely won't do as anything before the GTX 16/RTX 20 series is considered as "End of Life"

While for the OP, you gotta be a bit specific with what happens.
You open the launcher, input your login details and press play. what happens next?
is the issue when you launch the game through Steam then the launcher fails to load entirely?

I just checked, there are multiple posts already about this issue, looks like it is because I have an old graphics card (nvidia GTX 1060 3GB) and latest drivers are messing something up

Yeah. sadly 582.28 and the recent 582.53 driver do break compatibility with some games and applications alike.
While those versions do address security concerns. it comes at a cost of compatibility which NVIDIA ain't likely to address it on the older cards

Stay on version 581.80 until you end up buying a newer card in the future
