FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

How is Shiva Ex easy?
So I watched mrhappy and mtq's videos, did my first run for shiva ex, and we wipe 5 times.

The first one we wiped in the first 45 seconds of the fight. Second death was due to DPS not killing the adds. Third and beyond were just random deaths due to people sliding on thin ice, tripping over icicle patterns, etc.

Everyone in my FC says this fight is easy. Everyone I come across and asked about this fight said shiva ex is easy. I just don't feel it. I feel that levi ex was the easiest out of all of them, and they said shiva is easier than levi!!!

It's easy if you have a good group that knows what to do. If you get a party full of derps then anything can be hard.

Kill adds, move out of aoe. Pick and assign spots. Nothing else to it.
It's hard till you learn the fight, Once you have learned the fight it's up to others to learn it and then everyone can start saying it's easy cause they learned to down it many times xD.

Simply said every Dungeon/Trial/Raid (Altho some mechanics are as simple as they can be) is hard for the first times but when you learn it and do it more times it starts to seem so easy till you can execute it flawlessly (Except the usual Derps which happens too)

Totally agree that Levi is the easiest but Shiva would be second imho. The thing is that if people start dying it can be a real strain on healers to get them back up (because generally you need everyone to make sure you don't hit the enrage). Plus the swapping and debuffs mean the Tanks and Healers need to know what they're doing.

A lot of Shiva is simply learning it well enough to do your job while not standing where you shouldn't. If most of that group was new then 5 wipes is pretty standard. Hell, first time I did it with FC members we only had 12 minutes left on the clock when we beat it; not sure how many wipes but it was quite a few. Your group just has to persevere and learn it through deaths and wipes.

Swapping? You can solo tank Shiva.

Never watch MrHappy's videos, they're so confusing it's insane.

Here's the deal:
Shiva has 4 stances. Sword, Bow, Staff and Unarmed. She will never switch to the same TWICE unless you're at the add phase where she will ALWAYS do Sword stance (Tank get ready to turn her around). She will however go from weapon to unarmed always. (So typically like this: unarmed -> staff -> unarmed -> sword -> unarmed (adds) -> sword -> Phase change)

In the first phase you have some very simple versions of Sword, Staff and Unarmed. After the adds you will all freeze in place which marks the transition to the final phase, where Bow will be introduced.

You can either look at what's going to appear in her hands to determine the weapon (she does the different animations for each weapon she draws, it takes like 2-3 seconds) or look at her buff/debuff bar (the icon will appear slower than you can determine by just looking at animation).

Here's the rundown:
Unarmed: Giant circles appear in specific patterns. First one (before adds) there's only one place to go that's safe (it's random among 4 spots). If you cannot find it, stay in the middle and take the hit this one time. In the last phase these circles will appear in a circular motion - Stand where the LAST circle is going to go (it'll make a full circle), wait for the circle in the middle to disappear (sounds of shattered ice when it happens, just listen) and go into the middle.

Sword: Tank turn Shiva around immediately, she will do a frontal cone attack which damage needs to be shared among the entire party. Boom, face her away from the party again after the hit. Look out for Glacier Bash - If the tank sees this being cast immediately move behind Shiva to dodge. Sometimes she will make some big ass ice cones that push people away, so stay near the middle while she's in blade form to not get pushed into the sides of death.

Staff: Circles appear under people's feet. They can overlap, just don't hit any people. In last phase this will be supplemented by giant circles on the ground. There are 4 free spots between all these giant circles, but seeing as you cannot hit each other with your own little circle underneath you each of the 4 spots can only fit 2 persons each (one close to the center of the arena ("in"), one close to the edge ("out")). This is why people call out locations before the fight starts, so everyone knows where to go. Handle that and get ready for lots of damage on the tank (use a cooldown to save your healers some effort) and lots of unavoidable snowstorm damage on the party (medica 2, maybe with Divine Seal to make sure).

Bow: Shiva has to be moved to the edge of the arena. Which direction doesn't matter. She will "Critical Hit" the tank a lot so using "Awareness" is a very good idea here. After some time one person will be marked with a blue marker atop their head. Said person has to hug her butt and get shot back while everyone else moves to the sides (this is the reason you keep her at the edge of the arena so there's room for the large knockback). Move her back and get ready for another unarmed.

So, TL;DR:
Before the fight people will agree on where each person goes on Staff.
Unarmed: Circles in circular motion, dodge accordingly.
Sword: Turn around, share damage, tank dodge Glacier Bash.
Staff: Go to your designated spot, don't hit others with your circle. Lot's of damage.
Bow: Shiva to the edge, mark above head hug Shiva's butt.

Meh, it turned out rather long... Get some experience lad, it seems like you just tried it once and started crying that it's hard. Come on, give it some shots. It's not hard, keep telling yourself that. Stay focused and notice what the boss is doing. The key to this fight is reacting to which weapon she draws, which is a bit random, so stay on your toes and memorize what the weapons do.

Yeah this fight is really easy but the one time I did actually try it it was with the DF and once in 4 people just randomly called out where they were going to stand and just started the fight and we wiped pretty fast and I left cause that is really annoying. I'm not in a FC so it's kinda hard for me to get groups out side DF.

Try Party Finder, it's there for that exact reason............

Google NSFW Shiva Ex guide.

Guaranteed success rate 99.99%.

The 0.01% that didn't succeed is because they hate catgirls.

Don't stand in bad, make sure your tank knows what they're doing (where to tank her, when to turn her, when to swap on weapon phases (if needed), etc), and she is actually quite easy. All a matter of Practice. MrHappy's videos are needlessly complicated and will only confuse you.
