The Steps of Fate Trial - Fail after fail. Stuck!

Heya!

So i have reached this step in the story, but i can't seem to clear this trial.
All the groups i match with either do first comers, or just perform poorly.
I've been trying to finish this trial for 5 days now, and i'm still stuck.
I'll probably end up quitting the game and unsubscribe if i'm not through with this untill my sub is over.
This is a joke! How hard can it to be for people to understand the most basic performance of cannons and harpoons. I'm just speachless!

I'm ♥♥♥♥ing frustrated tbh, i really am.

Try setting up a a party via Party Finder, or ask your FC for help.

first of all, you have till heavensward to clear this.
Second, they might make it easier because they cant have 80% of all playwers locked out of the expansion.
And third, difficult dungeons and trials should not be done with party finder.


People are overgeared now, so everything except steps and the final coil and maybe ex primals can be brute forced now, dont get used to this, in the new expansion things will get harder again and you shouldnt expect a high duty finder success %,

This trial is more of "do it right" then be geared with 130 ilvl gear.
I wont forget my first attempt, i had x2 tanks with 135 relics and 130 gear. Tank sucked balls.
Healers died and didn't run back, No one used the harpoon and cannons didnt stun the turtle.
Oh wait... guess what, it's like this after the 29th attempt.
I dont have friends in the game, nor anyone just seem to help whenever i ask for help. Community is really just as bad as in any other MMO these days.
I will never forget what an amazing community FFXI had back at the time. People were so kind and helpful.
And now, now Im just into serious disappointment.

As for the expansion, i aint about to wait for Square to nerf the difficulty to a point where people gonna auto attack cannons and harpoons will be taken off from this fight.

There's a lot of "firsts" in this trial. Failed about five times in a row, but then it made perfect sense afterwards. :P

I cleared it in 1 run with a bunch of newbies. All it took me was to explain how this fight works. Everyone had a great time =)

Just try and explain mechanics and make sure everyone knows what to do before starting the fight. Game is filled with tards though. Steps is far from difficult, people are just too used to not bothering with mechanics thanks to gear and nerfs. They've even nerfed low level stuff. Appalling.

if you are suffering lots of problems in Duty Finder then setting up a Party Finder for Steps of Faith while asking for peopple who atleast know how to deal with the actual trial May show much more promise than Duty Finder. Altho it's just having the basic ideas on the mechanics on how to beat the boss (Like one of the tanks grabs aggro of every mob and draws them under Vishaps belly which is also its Hitbox so cannons would do more dmg on every monster and you get bigger gaps on just dpsing the boss itself, also some monsters would be nice to have 1-2 dps to kill them mainly cause of enormous chunk of hp & defense. And then there is the harpoons and snares which arent that hard tho but practice is also needed if total newbie. Also using Limit Breaks or LB3 is suggested when ever its possible (Not sure if its worth it to spam LB1 or LB3 cause i'venot actually seen many much ppl even using them).

It's not that hard but rather tedious atleast in DF cause ppl who has no idea what to do anyways leave after 1-2 wipes and then others just follow. But i do suggest making PF for it cause in your server maybe there is ppl who've done it and could help unexperienced ppl to get through it. (or atleast i would expect there would be).

Even if there are many first-timers in a duty finder party, it can sometimes be cleared with 1 - 2 tries. The key is to assign roles and give a few tips beforehand (to whoever needs it). Take yourself an important role (like shooting Dragon Killers) if you know the fight. I myself needed to try it with about 20 different parties via duty finder (Chaos data center) to clear it a couple of times.

Yeah, much like WoD your gear means jack if people ignore the mechanics of the fight.

I failed repeatedly on this trial when it was released, got mad, and looked up a video guide on it. The next time I ran it, I got a group full of either "never done this" or "keep failing this." Explained the entire fight before the pull, and we got it on the first try. Perhaps if you tried explaining the fight beforehand it would go much better?

If you know the fight just ask in party chat if anyone knows how the fight goes. You will find that you will communicate alot better once you ask that. if they know the fight then you can carry on with the fight if they don't take a few minutes to explain it saves alot of headaches & frustration.

I have good news for you. Steps of Faith has been nerfed[na.finalfantasyxiv.com].

Vishap's maximum HP has been reduced.
The maximum HP of all enemies that spawn has been reduced.
Damage dealt by certain enemies has been reduced.
Damage dealt by Vishap's underfoot attack has been reduced.
Damage dealt by Bertha cannons upon exploding has been reduced.

I cleared this on my first try with a pug where half the people were new @-@ it wasnt till after that I realised how many stupid people DF this place and the terror that is "♥♥♥♥ this place i'll just take the 30 minutes..."

I see many of you write you finished this trial on your 1st/2nd attempts with pugs. Well, keep in mind you may had people with more brain cells then my last 10 groups. I mean, if a tank run into Vishap 5 seconds after everyone stopped watching the cutscene... well, not much room for explainations you see.
I tried to explain how the fight goes many times, and people still messed up. I honestly think i just had a very bad luck, that's all.
@Hey You! Thanks for posting, but im not even sure ill get the most of the experience now that they nerfed the fight. I'll just keep thinking about how i passed this trial by cheating it instead of finishing it like everyone else did

Such a damn shame they have to nerf content just because casual players cannot progress. This only further encourages casuals to continue not bothering to learn mechanics, and further ruins the game in general for other players, such as OP.
