Spam Messages over and over..
This is getting annoying as hell.. trying to enjoy and have fun with the game gets always interrupted with the instant message sound playing and having the chat bar full with fake spam ads from random stupid fake accounts :/ i know i can blacklist them, but there are always new spammers. Is square enix nothing doing about this? just curious

Set 'condition' busy. No more /tells.

Transfer to a server in a JPN datacenter that's not Tonberry.

Go into your config settings and edit your chat log.
Turn off the sound and you can turn off tells completly.

Just use /blist add <r> when you hear it.. eventually you'll filter out the biggest offenders.

Luckily i can just rightclick and add them to block list.. but still.. the devs have to do something against that. Simply blocking off doesn't help by much as they keep creating new spam accounts/bots over and over.. and there's basically no limit because all the name variations that are possible..

I've always preferred the command. (Keyboard > Mouse. :D ) But there's no real long-term fix. Even WoW has spats of abuse from bots too.

you can make it a macro and pull it down as a skill

That's why there are restrictions on the free-trial accounts. Thing is, despite the OTP being free to use, people will insist on not using two factor authentication... so every time a SE account gets hijacked and used for RMT... they have to treat it like a stolen account.

They also have such high sales, particularly on the NA servers, that they just up and buy new game codes / new SE accounts. There are even FCs just for RMT. A shame they won't go as far as Valve and kill off the accounts that but from RMTs as well as the RMT accounts themselves.

They even AFK in inn-rooms to get rid of the 'onion'. Business is good. Very good. Pay to Lame.

Most of the time, the /tells are are a one-time thing, /blist doesn't help for that but sure does for those that are using /yell and /shout, but those get shut down fast by the GMs. ('fast' by SE standards, no?)

It's only $18 for a World Transfer. Thing of it as an accessory cost, rather like buying your SLI 780s to play games... a small added cost.

OR... just turn off the public chat channels. On most of the JPN servers, you might see /shouts for [A][S] mobs... and that's it. Some places like MD will get some adverts directing you to look at the Party Finder. NA servers though... you get to find out what Jane had for dinner and what colour underwear she was wearing.

I still wish Square Enix would do something against this. And "only" 18$ for one character to move to another server? this is quite alot in my opinion.. why does this cost money anyways? i'm not really willing to pay money just to do that.. and besides that my location is in Switzerland.. so if i play on a Japanese Data Center the ping would increase immensely and the game would become unplayable due to the connection between server and client being so slow and really unresponsive.. anyways i'll just keep on blocking them and hope the blocklist doesn't have a limit.. as it's already really full.

Don't listen to Asphe, he/she is just the forum regular who thinks he/she knows what he/she is talking about.

The only way to stop the Gil Spam, is to set yourself to Do not Disturb, unfortunately that will also make it so no one else can /tell you either. I don't see them too often, not nearly as bad as most free-to-play games, so eventually you can just drown them out. Honestly, SE should get off their butts and take care of the situation, especially when this game is so popular compared to other MMORPGs.

right-click > blacklist. I've got about two dozen blacklisted so far, looking to get the achievement

I agree they should put some effort into tackling the problem, but I doubt SE will do much about it since the RMT & botting activity is still frequent in XI, they just give people a slap on the wrist for it or add some kind of nerf or a so called fix which doesn't really make much of a difference.

Pretty sure my blacklist is getting full.

After a while I stopped noticing the gil sellers. It's background noise now, like birdsong or the hum of the heater running.
Freyar Feb 19, 2015 @ 3:17pm
On the upside, the prevelance of RMT shows the game is doing well since there's a demand. (Not that I approve of it.)

This. It's blended in with random teleportation sounds.
