Not a lot to do currently, so no wonder.

better talk to Wuk Lamat about it.
Good. Hunt trains will no longer be flooded by impatient ass ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that don't get they only need to hit the damn thing once so everyone gets a chance.

Oh, I wouldn't count on that. Most of the people who go to hunt trains are grinding out the achievements. People who are grinding out achievements typically want things done quickly, so they can get their achievements done faster. And people who are grinding out the lengthy achievements are one of the few groups of players who still have a reason to log in.

Big shock, DT is a disaster. Tbh im now of the mindset that they should just rush through the rest of it and get to 8.0 ASAP.

I have less then zero interest in DT at this point.

In my entire game experience with hunt trains is only when people are rushing to get the weapon upgrade mats that there are consistent problems. People starting the fight without the conductors, lots of sniping and dummies spamming their strongest attacks with a 100+ people train.

When the population is lower, and when the rushers have already farmed the mats they wanted, from alliance raids and hunts, most of the people who remain have a better understanding of how trains go, including the fact that the conductors dictate the pace and oftentimes call out DPS speed. And even when they spam the ever-living ♥♥♥♥ out of everything in their kit, there's usually way less people so some extra DPS is not a problem. And those who start the fight early become fewer and far in between.

So not too worried about those blindly grinding for achievements, at least not on Ultros. They aren't the majority for sure, and in trains of around 20+ people they aren't a problem at all.

wouldn't change a thing, I still see people getting impatient and decide to attack the mob without waiting as someone who is playing the game every day for hours on end.

Early pulling a hunt mark is whatever, it’s only courtesy between players. Everything you do in the open world is fair game, cheating and botting are the only exceptions.
My favorite is killing random Stormblood A ranks when I see them and pissing off Aether Hunts because they still try to control Centurio Trains, and I'm all like "If I can solo it, I will kill it. I don't need your permission." Pisses them off every time. :D

Do they not know player count always drops between patches if there is not enough content or said content is not adjusted for the casual playerbase? :cuphead:

edit: You can mark my post as the answer.

I havent even bothered to do or skip through the current story yet, it started out well and 5 lines into it Wuk shows up and I just stopped. I might just wait untill next expansion before caring about the story again.
It's normal for player counts to drop, but at least for me, this is the first time since I started that I'm genuinely not interested in whats going on.

I mean, it's based on data from Lucky Bancho... I just posted this because it's written in English.

The Lucky Bancho report is worth a read.

As it says in the report, it's normal for player numbers to drop but not like this. We've gone from record highs to the lowest recorded player numbers we've seen since late Stormblood.

I mean maybe, but so?

It's just anecdotal clickbait.

How many times have we heard "the death of WoW" over the years when something similar happens and yet it's still kicking as strong as ever. Every game that has it's high-highs has to have it's low-lows, too.

This isn't going to be some huge detriment to FFXIV that it will never recover from or anything of the sort.

In what world is this anecdotal evidence? It's raw data. An unprecedented number of people are dropping the game.

Honestly, this is great news and people should be happy about it. The game has been an absolute dumpster fire since 6.0 and voting with your wallet is the best way to send a message to a developer.

It's funny that you mention WoW because the exact same thing happened over there during Shadowlands and that's exactly what was needed to get them to turn the game around, and it's doing much better now.

No it's not. There is no census data. At best they are making educated guesses.
