FFXIV Boot Error Unable to complete version check. [30605][20448][10009][10019]
So I just recently bought FFXIV Collectors Edition off of steam. I download the game and as soon as it finishes I attempt to run the game and the first thing I see is "FFXIV Boot Error Unable to complete version check. [30605][20448][10009][10019]". So I intially searched through all the forms and tried everything that I could find on the issue to fix it but nothing has worked. Even verifying the game cahe and reinstalling 5 times I still have 44 files missing (according to Steam). I've just about given up on this game and I haven't even played it yet. I've found support on the game's website as useful as bashing my head into a brick wall until my skull and brains are a mixture of bone dust and pounded flesh. I would really hate to think of it as crappy service from Square Enix, but from my experience so far it's hard to see otherwise. Any suggestions or any assitance if possible would be greatly appreciated.

Navigate to the ffxivboot.exe. Open its properties and set in the compatiblity tab the flag for "run as admin"
Pros: FF 14 Works (At least for me, Win 8.1)
Cons: Steam stops recognizing it as running

This has happened to my brother and I both. All we do is exit steam and restart it (sometimes have to do it twice) and the game starts right up. Don't make the mistake of verifying the game cache or you will have to re-download the game and then patch throught the launcher. Hope this helps good luck.

Steam already updated the game files awhile back, initially it was missing critical start up files which caused the consistancy of the error. Ever since the last update (a few months ago) steam did on it ive been playing it nonstop. It's a pretty great game, just really long. It's just sad to see that it took "months" to fix the issue.

Ok I had the exact same issue and I have fixed it in only 2 seconds after reading this thread, what I did was disabled windows firewall temporarily, to get the client to open and update! I will be turning my firewall back on after I have added the exclusions for this app to run.

i had this issue yesterday, noones reporting any success yet, so ill post how i got around my problem (after 7hrs of troubleshooting and trying every thing i could find online). mine was actually the result of adware/malware.

open your task-manager/processes/show processes from all users. the malware on my computer wasnt running under my user, if i remember it was actually running under system. look around for something suspicious, google it, and if thats it before you end the process right click on it and open the file location. then end the process, and delete the files.

dont know if youll need a reboot or not after, i ran ccleaner on my registry and restarted. after that it booted up fine.

the adware i had was called something like savingsbull.

Excellent fix. I took about 30 minutes running through all of my processes. Google each one individually, I had some adware on my PC the inhibited me from booting the FFXIV launcher. I went to the file location of the adware, ended the process, and deleted all the files in the file location. Didn't need a reboot or anything, ran the launcher and it started up like I remember. :)

Malware can result in changes being made to IE and your connection preventing the connection rom working.

Remember: Keep your systems clean.

I am also having problems, i had it running when i bought it on a disc and i have bought it on steam, it told me to renew on my disc version until it then just had errors, so a few months later i bought it on steam. Please help.

First off, you didn't need to buy the Steam version since you had the game already. You can always get the non-Steam client from SE directly for free.

As for your current issue, try pinging SE's gateways (pick the one our datacenter's on, if you don't know... ping all 3).

6)Remove routers
In order to diagnose the issue, remove routers and hubs temporarily.
*This may change your connection to a broadband connection. Please consult with your provider for connection settings.
This worked for me,
thank you good sir!

I've been having this problem for about two weeks and I've tried an obscene amount of 'solutions'
I've also tried restoring to a point in time where the problem wasn't happening and it did work, I wanted to see on what day the problem arised again if it did, and it did during a critical update windows did, ofcourse I couldn't do a restore before the critical update so I'm now stuck, I download at 25/mb a sec so redownloading the game over just to play isn't that big of a deal, but I should't have to do that to play.

So for the past two weeks, I've just left my client on at the start menu, It's not ideal at all, but I don't have to redownload the game, there was a solution I thought worked but I don't know, I was told it's an internet explorer option, I went into the security settings and checked a box that allowed me to skip the error so the client would start up, then I went into the boot file and changed one of the numbers from 0 to 1, forcing the client to patch and get past the version check, all it did was change my download from 16 gigs to 10, and I logged in fine, but minutes after the boot file changed back to 0 and the version check error came back.

I don't know the the problem anymore...It's rather annoying.

If you go into the games folder (Wherever you put Steam) and turn the exes to admin mode you won't have to deal with that crap. The game won't show up (so you can't take screenshots or use overlay) but at least it's better than reinstalling the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game 20 times. Good luck.
