If you're with other people, you can focus on surviving more than damage. I'm sure they'll get over it. (as long as you're not tank or healer) I don't know which version of the "Kill the Ultimate Weapon" you're doing though.
Basically if you're DPS class like archer lancer etc etc etc, you can kindof skate by un-noticed most times. Especially in big group stuff.
Anyways, you can do it, just keep trying!
The best idea I have for you right now is to craft up some food that's appropriate for whatever class you are. (or buy some off the Market Board but food is usually expensive in this game). This will give you a bit of a buff to the stats it mentions.
I would also suggest going to the market board and buying a couple-10 Max Potions. There's a cooldown but these can be a life saver, put it on your hot bar and when you really need an extra heal, slap that button!
Best wishes. Hope some of this could help.
The best recommendation I can give you is to find some people that you can depend on when you're not keeping up to speed. At least a few of them. Do dungeons with them, do trials with them and a few randos and get through MSQ as fast as possible. Doing MSQ content with a little help from some friends does make things go faster (larger pulls, people to give you advice, and just because it’s a bit more fun), and depending on a non-NPC tank when you’re having trouble to keep up with the AOEs and heal at the same time is a very nice thing to have (IIRC you mentioned playing as WHM on another thread).
And once again, I want to reiterate that you're very close to where the story picks up, is just an unfortunate (already reduced by a multiple patches) slog. If you can’t find people to play with then I suggest you just buckle down and keep at it. Believe me, you’ll be into the new expansion way faster than it seems right now, and hopefully you’ll be enjoying those stories a bit more so getting through MSQ to craft what you want isn’t this boring.
If you immediately retry without logging out, you can lower the difficulty. There is no shame in doing that. You can always do new game + later on and watch how much better you've gotten in the game.
I've allways died intentionally when there was some solo scneario ♥♥♥♥.
Nothing is more boring then attacking a scneario boss for minutes
I've made it through all previous "duties" only getting killed once. This is the final battle to kill that monster magitek ultimate weapon. After quite a few fails, I've made it through all the stages except the actual destruction of it, but of course, after failing that, I have to start over through all of it. Always use real players. Some have been so considerate of my failings, I should bow down to them. Others, not so nice. And all the flashbacks and cut-scenes are driving me over the brink.
Re above replys
I play a white mage, thus a healer. Like my main, all my gatherers and crafters are 50 or over, but I can't get into the higher areas to gather high level resources until I pass this "DUTY". All my gear is at top level, Haven't tried the food though.
Next step I'll try is to add materia to all my gear. Stupid otherwise as I'll probably change to new gear in 3-4 levels.
Thanks for all the encouragement folks.
As someone mentioned above Archer or black mage are good options.
You would want to avoid meele characters as they require a lot more map awareness.
and this isnt even the worst, wait until you get (if you ever buy the expansions) to the point where your body gets swapped with a normal soldier and zenos stealing your body THAT is the WORST quest in the entire game and you HAVE to get through this because its a story quest (btw marked as spoiler, so your choice if you want to read it or not).
Are you talking about the ultima weapon boss in the main scenario duty?
You must be dying from aoes.
I main a warrior I would suggest you try as tank.
Gives you more time to underatand his mechanics and you won't die as much with all that defense since you don't have to stand around dealing with cast times.
Always use food buffs and materia.
You can't go wrong with more stat buffs.
If a Tank or Healer dies it adds a lot of stress to the team - since there are only 2 healers and 2 tanks.
But if a DPS dies no one cares and no issue for team at all
