Trial Player - Can I buy on Steam?
Hey everyone, I'm currently a trial player during the current promotion and I'm liking it a lot so far. What I can't find out is whether or not I can transition my trial account to a paid version purchased on Steam. The trial version is using the NON-Steam client and I just can't get a clear answer whether I have to buy directly from Squeenix or not to continue my trial character into full.

Yes, you can transition by buying a Steam copy.
Thinking about this trial thingy right here, I found a decent question: If (and when) you have days left in your trial, will those unused days be overriden by that 30-day free month or do you get 30+ days to play? O.o

Thanks Freyar.

I've read that the remaining days in your trial do not get added to the 30 days given at purchase.
That's what I expected. Still, me thinks it's pretty much worth it.. x)

Hi Just some explanation needed .. I created a Account @ http://account.square-enix.com but selected NA does this mean i cannot use EU ? i need to cancel the account first so i can create a new account and Select EU to play EU version

Some clarity:

If you convert your account from Trial to Full Service (AKA: Buy the game) you will lose ALL trial time associated with the account.

If you buy subscription time via a Game Time Card or Steam Wallet purchase, you will RETAIN your existing 30 days from your retail purchase.

Wilds, if you selected North America you either need to A: Poke support to see if you can get your account moved to the right type, or B make sure all payments are through NA keys and cards (this is more of a hassle than it sounds.)

Hi, i started as a trial player. Then my friend said hey let me send a refer a friend to you. Ok so I did that to a different email address to do that. So the games installed on my computer. Then i bought the game on steam and...I got no CD Key, everyone else got one or no? The game's installed already so i only bought on steam for the key. I need to link it to my card to activate the sub. But I have no key, help?

Right-click Final Fantasy XIV in your list and "View CD-Key" It should also show the first time you run the game through Steam if you install at least the launcher.
Pthumerian 4 AGO 2014 a las 16:26
ok so you have to actually install the game through steam to get the key? I was trying to avoid those 2hrs. I've already got the game installed through the .exe from the trial download.

You should be able to right-click it and view the CD-Key without installing. In Large mode, select the game but look at the right pane. One of the options will be to View CD-Key.

Ok so I know this is late, but I really need someone to confirm this for me. So I have the 14 day free trial of FFXIV ARR but it is using the non-steam client. When I try to transition to the full 30 day monthly thing, I can either enter a registration code or buy the full game. The full game is £20 but I already have the game installed, I just want to buy the 30 days thing. I don't know where to buy a registration code, though. Can I buy the full version on steam and use it's CD-KEY as the registration code? The registration codes are 20 digits long, so could someone confirm if the CD-KEY when buying FFXIV ARR on steam is 20 digits long and works as the registration code? Otherwise I'll just buy it on Steam and go through another 8 hours of installation. 3: ~ Arupaka. :pleased:

i personally think it will be far more beneficial to you in the long run to buy the steam version and redownload it. but yes the cd keys are 5 groups of 4 digits

as far as i know the steam client would read differently than the direct download client this would cause problems as you can't just log in because you have a legit account to say the ps4 client as you don't have a ps4 service account type registered, that said in the accoutn area of the website it does list my steam accoutn type as WIN so it may vary well be possible. preference here i personally think steam offers better service in the case of file corrpution and the like

Thank you for the feedback, Haliax. Luckily I just found out I could buy 60 days of membership for around £17 at my local Game! :D So I suppose I won't really need to buy the Steam version. Hopefully files won't get corrupted and stuff, but yeah. Thanks for the feedback! ~ Arupaka

problem being game time and a license are completely unrelated
