Bards getting banned?

First of all, "Performance" isn't restricted to BRD, people only prefer to use that job for the sake of RP.

Second, there are so many details missing from this story and that makes it very difficult to believe.

Do you really wanna read 4 different rants from 4 people or look it up yourself by just typing "FF xiv Bard bans" either the case I guess if copyright and thirdparty is a thing they fear its understandable,But if all you're technically allowed to play is FF songs, excluding the few that are copyrighted I guess that Somnus is technically in the category until the update maybe they had a reason to give off a player notification warning. and I have yet to see this RP from players yet I am still fresh to the game but seeing this just makes me want to be cautious because I want to enjoy the game.

A) As stated, it has nothing to do with the Bard or Archer job.

B) The musical instruments added in awhile ago is what you're thinking of. Yes you will get banned for playing copyrighted music. They give you a massive warning after you finish the quest if I recall.

It's not even playing it, it's recording it from the game and then uploading it.

The thing about rants from people who got banned are that they downplay why exactly they were banned.

The only people getting in trouble are the ones uploading stuff onto YouTube and to be fair the quest did warn you not to play stuff that can be copyrighted. Classical music and SE music should be fine except for a few songs noted in the terms like Answers and Dragonsong. However, if you're busting out some new music that just dropped last week then record a video of it and post it onto YT expect to run into serious problems.

It isn't restricted to Bard? Have they changed it recently? Because I'm pretty sure you had to have Bard Unlocked and you can only use the instruments if you're currently on Bard.

Anyhow from what I recall about Square Enix, as long as you're not into anyone's face with things against the Terms of Service (like ACT, XIVhunt (Guildworks before that) and or TBard) you should be fine, same with playing copyrighted music, just do it among friends.
