How to buy a house?

I'm kinda new to this game and I looked into the housing.
It seems really confusing and I can't find a place where I can bid on houses. Or just buy them. Is there a lvl restriction or what am I missing? How do I buy a house?

There need to be houses available, if one is, you can go to the lot and purchase it right there.

But how do I know it its availalbe? Can I see it somehow on the map? Why are some houses yellow and some green or blue on the map?

Go to the city Aethyrite. Click view housing.

Everything is listed.

How new are you? Not entirely sure but I think you need to level up your GC rank before you can buy houses/apartments.

You also need to level up and folow the story to unlock housing areas before you can access them through Atheryte.

You need a lot of gil for a house for the first thing. I'm talking 3m is the cheapest for a small one up to like 40m for the mansions Second hand selling (which is against terms of service) they can go for three times the in game price.

The housing was divided into 4 zones, one for a major city. They added a major zone in 4.1 and houses sold out in minutes of the update going on. A lot of people were pissed becuase they missed out. You're lucky because they are adding more houses starting with 4.2. which comes in January towards the end of it.

If you just started playing I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's not ideal but there is ample Apartments (which are slightly bigger than half of a small house) and a room in a Free company house everywhere in the game if you are just starting out. The nicest of decorations and furniture is the truest of end-game, and can cost millions of gil or 100s of crafting hours to make.

It takes at least dozens of hours on a competent class to make enough for anything near a house. No-one starting out really has a chance of getting one when more drop sadly.

tl;dr Focus on MSQ til u unlock all necessities for housing. You need a lot of time in the gam before you can afford a house, and even there there might be none because its not instanced like other MMOs. Apartment + Room in FC = Same Size as Small House for 25% (Sadly in 2 Seperate Locations)

Okay cool but where can I see the prises?

You can see the prices by the same guy that shows you the List with Names.
If there is a free house you see the Price instead of the Name of the Person that owns that plot.

And if you wanna buy a free plot, you have to go to the Location of that plot on the map and interact with the Board at the entrance of the wanted plot.

What if I buy a house or an apartment in my FC goblet. What if I leave the FC? What happens to my house then?

If you purchase a house for an FC, it belongs to the FC.
