FINAL FANTASY XIV Online

Is it region locked?
I live in EU and EU version cost €45, but on US the price for both ARR and Heavensward is $20 which is less than half the price. I guess because of Black Friday?
Can I buy US version and play on EU servers?

Anyway, here's the link:

Well I thought what the hell and bought it. Square Enix account management is confusing as hell but I think it's working fine.

Only the Chinese and Korean version are region locked, which can not be used or purchased outside of those countries.
The version outside of that is semi region locked as to your purchase and SE account must match to use. But you can play on any server or region out side of the two mentioned above.

Those are NA, EU(Australia) and JP. Each sells it own version region locked to a SE account of the same region. This includes all promos, codes and support(language of comunication)
Once your account is set up you can play on any region with out issue.

TLDR: Your SE account must match the region of the game, you can play on any server region except China and Korea.

Wow, they have the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and most confusing website ever...
I bought the game from the link, but whenever I try to add the game to my either EU or US account, it's like I didn't get the right code, it's asking me for two different types of codes but neither want to accept the code I got from them... wtf...

Ok, got it working, they have like 3 different account websites... jeez...

This site is your friend.

Has direct link to mogstaion outside of the launcher.

Only two. One overall because they have multiple games and one specifically for the game itself.

Noting many other MMOs have a very similar structure.

No they don't, and I own pretty much every popular MMO out there as it's my favorite genre.
SE might have a great game with FFXIV, but their website(s) is an absolute mess.

Yeah, they may only have 'two' types of SE accounts [at one time, I had one for FF11, one for SE NA and another for SE EU... so three SE accounts] but it's not really clear to someone new to their website.

PS The price of FF14 + HS was dropped to $10 [https://store.na.square-enix.com/product/282255/final-fantasy-xiv-heavensward-pc-download] [just the expansion]

Yes, they do.

WoW, before Battle.net was united between games actually managed a battle.net login and a WoW login.

WildStar, Aion, Blade & Soul, Guild Wars 2,, Lineage 2, and all other NCSoft games operate under a dual account with both your NCSoft Login and, at least it was the case a while ago, a seperate login per game account.

Neverwinter, Gigantic, Champions Online, Star Trek Online, Forsaken World, Perfect World, and Swordsman all work under the Arc Games account system, and also have, for at least some of those games, worked under a seperate in game login as well.

Now, seeing as I've already gone and named a large number of the popular MMOs out there, want to tell me again how "pretty much every popular MMO out there" doesn't have multiple accounts?

BTW, ARC and NCSoft both have notoriously terrible websites and I simply can't believe anyone who wants to say FF14's is some kind of exception to a rule.

Many of these games don't smooth out their web presence for years, because it takes experience in dealing with an MMO crowd for ITs in this field to generally get a feel for how their games audiences feel and handle websites. You really can't honestly tell me that many, if any at all, of the top games out there launched with a smooth web interface. And frankly, this website isn't half as confusing as some people make it out to be, leaving me literally scratching my head in confusion over the complaining. MogStation is clearly directed to in every single facet of the process and the sign up program, if actually followed step by step, is in no way unclear as to how you're supposed to complete the process.

The fact that I regularly link their walkthrough and it solves well over 90% of the problems those complaining about them are having says a lot. Especially since it's literally written in a way you'd teach a grade schooler to do something.

And try me, because I really HAVE tried them all.

Dude, there's a difference between having a launcher and website login, than having 3 different websites.
SE websites are just confusing. Heck, even when I bought the game and went to the link they gave me in the email (with clear instructions where to go to activate my game) it was still the wrong website, I had to log to mog station.
Pity you had to write that long post, but yeah, this is a japanese game and it's supposed to be confusing.
Also, judging from all these posts like "need help activating the key so I don't mess up" says everything.

Not really, not when the two major hubs I just mentioned actually have three websites and not two like I just stated twice. Just for instance, for WildStar you have the NCSoft Account site AND the Wildstar Site AND the Launcher.

For Neverwinter you have the Neverwinter Site, the ARC site, the ARC Launcher and Updater, which loads the ARC Game Manager, which loads the Neverwinter Launcher.

You really aren't going to actually look at what I'm saying, are you?

SE websites are just confusing. Heck, even when I bought the game and went to the link they gave me in the email (with clear instructions where to go to activate my game) it was still the wrong website, I had to log to mog station.

Except said e-mail actually gives you the mogstation link. So... failure to follow instructions on your part.

Pity you had to write that long post, but yeah, this is a japanese game and it's supposed to be confusing.

Overblown attempt at mockery followed by a possibly offensive statement. Classy.

Also, judging from all these posts like "need help activating the key so I don't mess up" says everything.

Not really. There are similar posts on the forums of just about every MMO site ever made. You're using general computer literacy as evidence of something when it could very well just prove them same thing across the board.

Nope, the link sends me to:
http://www.square-enix.com/na/account/
When I go there and click on "Final Fantasy XIV" it sends me to http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ where I can either buy the game (not gonna do that) or get free trial (which leads to a blank page which refuses to load".
Do you need a screenshot as well?
Gabby 2016년 11월 25일 오후 2시 21분
You're either looking at the first e-mail where they instruct you to create the Square-Enix account or simply not looking hard enough. I'd love a screenshot of the full, unedited e-mail though.

((BTW, you're referring to Step 5. I would suggest reading it carefully again before taking that screenshot.))

Steps 5) 6) 7) are the extremely confusing, step 5 tells you to create SE account, then step 6) tells you to use the code once asked, and step 7 tells you to use that account to log in. But you can't do step 6 from the step 5 link.
That is WRONG. You need to register an account through the launcher, on top of registering a SE account.

Seriously, you're biased, you don't see this from the eyes of someone who never did this before. You've done this few times before so you know how it's done so you can't possibly understand, but new players need help, and questions on this forum about registering prove it. The website and instructions are confusing as hell. It's a FACT.

Now I'm done arguing with biased fanatics and I'm done with this question, so I'm unsubscribing from this thead.
Gabby 2016년 11월 26일 오후 6시 04분
Step 5 says only to follow that link if you haven't created a SE account yet. Funny enough, if you actually do what it says, which is to read the instructions carefully in the installer, it guides you through the setup.

What you're basically saying is it's confusing because you don't follow instructions.

And sweetie, we've all had to do this before. So I of course can see from the eyes of someone who never had to do it before.

Cute fallacy of trying to create a bias and walking off. You were still wrong. :)
