I registered Square Enix ID online, see info.
Launched Final Fantasy XIV Launcher, entered ID, password and see:
Registration for your free trial of FINAL FANTASY XIV is complete.
Installing the game is not setting up a working account.
The fact you had to run a registry cleaner to actually install means something is wrong on your computer. Registry cleaners are ... bad though.
And no this game/launcher has no issues with other popular DRM/launchers. I have Steam, Origin, Uplay, GoG Galaxy & Battle.net open all the time.
Never any issues.
So I had to create a completely new EU Square Enix account through the client just for FFXIV. So now I have 3 SE accounts.. pffft!
As for other DRM/clients - I've not had any issues with them & FFXIV client. Steam, Origin, Uplay, Battle.net, Arc... I've had them all open and game launch's just fine.
You need mog station account.
When I bought FF XIV I made mog account with my exsisting SE account.
So what I created via the client was a MOG account & not another SE account? Because the client clearly says SE account... and made me create one rather than use one I already had.
And yes, I did not have a MOG account prior to this. I guess I should head over to the mog website and see which SE account actually works with it. lol
But to me, this just proves the OP's point.. apparently it's a MOG account we need (or a SE account with a mog account attached), but the client says SE account... but won't let you use a SE account (well, at least one with no mog account attached), and does not tell you anything about the mog account thing.
This is where you make and manage your service account and register your keys. If you have never seen thsi screen before, you're in need of completing this step.
... terrifies me to this day.
If this is true they should be paying you for relaying this information, because i havent seen it mentioned anywhere else...
- the Steam page for the trial version looks bugged, and the Discussions link just leads to an error page.
- creating the account is standard enough, but entering the information during setup is wonky and stumbles over the nonessential One Time Password that it never tells you is nonessential unless you go looking.
- patching and updating the launcher is (or can be) ludicrously complicated compared to every, single other game in the genre, turning up a host of errors with fixes ranging from: manually altering your DNS, port forwarding (which used to be more common than it has been in the last eight or ten years), disabling firewalls (also used to be more common), deleting this file or that folder, altering folder permissions, launching the executable as an administrator directly, and/or connecting through a VPN (via different regions). Like, this is nuts. No other MMO requires almost any of this, and it almost turned me away, so I can only imagine how many folks have just dropped it. Oh, and any of the above 'fixes' may or may not work. In my case, I literally tried it the same way, with no changes, five times just for ****s and giggles--and eventually it worked. So there's no way to tell whether any of these fixes actually do anything, or how much of it is just blind luck for the people having this problem.
It's a great game so far, absolutely having a blast. That's why I bought it. But it's setup is about a decade out of date.
It's still better than hundreds of Korean/Chinese/Taiwanese MMO.so those are about two decades behind.
I absolutely hate the craptastic TERA UI that even hurts the game performance.
At least I don't have to have 25 hotbars like Anarchy Online. Those were the days lol.
And to the person who needed to run a registry cleaner, I would almost bet money that didn't have anything to do with it anyway. I tried every fix, got the trial to work, and then they did maintenance and I had trouble again. So for fun, I put my DNS back to automatic, reset all folder permissions, turned on my antivirus and firewall, etc etc. Failed four times and updated fine the fifth try, for no apparent reason. Gave me the same error it did during initial install, until it didn't. I don't even use a router.
Something's borked in the way this works, somewhere. Great game, but the only one I've ever seen have this kind of weirdness out of any MMO I've ever played.
