Video driver crashes on load screen
As the title says, my video driver crashes on the first loading screen (several seconds after selecting a level to play), giving me the "Video driver crashed and was reset" error. I can't adjust the game's settings because I can never get the actual gameplay portion to load, so I'm rather at a loss as to what I can do to get it to stop crashing. I haven't had this issue with any other Unreal games so far; I'm running an Intel i7-3770 processor (@3.4GHz w/ 8GB of RAM) on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, so as far as I can tell it's not an issue with the minimum requirements. Any advice on what I could do?

I don't think the system specifications on the store page are accurate at all. I share similar specs to yours and find it difficult at times to maintain a steady frame rate. We should be able to run it no problem, especially for what the game is and the [small] layer of adjustable settings present.

Give the above link a try and see if it helps. Alternatively you can try verifying the integrity of game files, or reinstalling, restarting and then launching the game. Good luck!

You didn't mention what video card/chip GPU you have. Are you using the integrated Intel HD 4000 Graphics in the CPU, or an external dedicated GPU from Nvidia/AMD?

Even though Intel HD 4000 Graphics is supposed to support DirectX 11, I wonder how good its implementation is. It may not fully support all features of DirectX 11 in the drivers. Intel's drivers are notoriously poor in this area (gaming). The devs of TRON RUN/r may need to issue an update to ensure it works on all DX11 GPUs. And even if the game would run on HD 4000, it wouldn't perform very well because it's a very slow GPU.

Hmm, that link you provided has options for Goldsrc and Source Engine games from Valve to adjust graphic settings. TRON RUN/r uses Unreal Engine 4, so that won't help.

I tried to get various Unreal command line options to work with TRON RUN/r, but so far haven't had much success. The game seems to ignore most of them.

I'd say the specs on the store page for TRON RUN/r are reasonably accurate, except for the memory requirement. Right now, you can get away with 4GB system memory and the game will still run.

Others have complained about poor performance in the game, and it's not surprising really. The game is in Early Access, after all. It's going to take some time to smooth out any issues and improve performance on various GPUs. Give it some time.

The files verified properly (although I did try reinstalling just in case), but the game still crashes. Like LDSO said, that link is just for Source/Valve stuff; anyway, I've looked around in Run/r's files, but I haven't found anything that looks like it would let me force certain settings. I'll keep searching, though.

I'm stuck with the integrated graphics at the moment, unfortunately. I'm not exactly expecting to play Run/r at its highest quality with a setup like this, but what you said about DirectX makes a lot of sense. I'll wait for the next update (and in the meantime, I'll see if I can find an actual dedicated GPU).

Thank you both for your help and advice.
I found a discussion elsewhere, here on the Steam forums, where someone else talks about a DX11 game crashing on HD 4000 graphics.

The dev theorizes that even though their game should work on Intel graphics, it ends up using system RAM instead of the extra VRAM that would be on a dedicated GPU. So the game runs out of memory (your 8GB system RAM is shared with the Intel integrated GPU) and crashes.

Though, that doesn't entirely make sense for TRON RUN/r. Because I only have 4GB system RAM and a GPU with 1GB VRAM. 4+1 = 5 and it works fine. You have 8GB.

Maybe updating your Intel drivers will help, if you don't have the latest?
