You could interpret it as a clever metaphor that you, as the player, "fell into the hole" of the game. Some players fall into the hole intentionally to escape from the reality of the surface, others fall cautiously into the game without intenting of getting sucked in.

Do you think Frisk doesn't have anyone or something? Some of these seem like an attempted suicide. And at the end of the pacifist route Toriel if you have anyone you have to be with and I'm pretty sure a lot of us chose to stay with her instead of going back to our family... Idk if this has anything to do about it though
