Tongue?

I see lots of fan art of Sans having this weird blue gross tongue.
Does anyone know where this comes from or what concept caused people to draw this?
Also if you are unaware of this then google "Sans Tongue" and then you'll see what I mean.

Some people seem to be under the impression that Sans actually moves his mouth when he talks for some reason, probably just being irked by animations and such where he looks like he's not talking at all.
The reason why his tongue would be blue is probably because he's a skeleton and I'm pretty sure decomposing corpses' tongues turn blue at a certain point.
