No, seriously - it is so overused it lost its meaning. It basically means "everything popular that I (the poster) do not like, and therefore it must be bad, even though people like it".
Which is sad... In a sense that people apparently need this form of self-validation.
Or it is a desperate attempt at hating something. And I mean desperate.
I agree overrated is overrated, but what other word is there?
I don't think everything I hate is overrated, if you've actually been reading the thread, you'd know I said I believe it's a good game.
No question about it.
It was the first game in a very long time that actually made me laugh and smile, even just a little.
I think it suffers from the same thing that MLP does. Its a fine, enjoyable thing by itself, but the people around it make you want to hate it.
I liked FNF's fan base more than I did the actual game. I don't play horror games because I don't like getting startled (and I have a heart condition), but I had fun with those that enjoyed it. FNF should have ended in a trilogy, though. The fourth didn't really have anything except "TEETH! I SAID GIVE THEM MORE TEETH!".
---------------
I legitimately consider "Undertale" to be one of the best video games ever made, so I am highly biased in my decision on whether or not it's overrated.
For that reason, I'll focus on Vaxen's comment.
While one of Tumblr's few redeeming features is that it is the ultimate house of puns, you don't have to be a liberal to laugh. I consider puns to be the highest form of comedy, so I particularly had a ball with Sans and the puns in general.
As for the story line, there's nothing inherently Tumblrista about the concepts of showing grace, mercy, kindness, justice, integrity, determination, and so on. These are Jewish and Christian virtues too, and one reason I like UT so much.

The only Tumblr pandering was the ill-advised decision to imply that Undyne and Alphys are degenerates in a crack pairing. The main evidence for this is Alphys kissing Undyne on the cheek in the credits. The worst part was that it reenforces the degenerate narrative that tomboys and female soldiers such as Undyne, as well as female science geeks and female laboratory geniuses like Alphys ARE OBVIOUSLY LESBIAN.
Now, Undyne being a degenerate makes sense, because she is basically your classic Butch Lesbian but with modesty
I call this "queer-taminating", which was exactly what Toby Fox chose to do with said crack pairing. The idea that homosexuals own types of women demonstrating strength in unisex or even masculine ways even without acting like men themselves is bad enough, but brainwashing every tomboy or little boy that played dolls with his sister into thinking they are gay is one of the greatest casualties of the LGB conquest of American culture.
This is the Tumblr line of thought in "Undertale", buit is not reenforced by the actual story Furthermore, this does not detract from "Undertale" being one of the greatest video games ever made.
I give it nine out of ten and would give it a full ten of ten if it didn't cross the boundary into RL politics with its canonical use of homosexuality in two characters. The game is too good to let that detract from it, though.
Like seriously tho, Fnaf is dying and people moved from Fortnite to Apex.
Meanwhile Undertale appears in Smash Bros with one and only Mii fighter that have a music, then Toby Fox working with Gamefreak just because they liked the game so much, to the point that they used him as marketing point for Little Town Hero.
