Undertale

Why do so many fans of Undertale focus on the Bad Ending when the True Ending sends such a positive message?
I don't mean this question in a rude way, and I don't mean to bash anyone who perfers the Bad Ending. The thing is, I just finished the game and had really good feelings about it. I loved the way I could go through the game without hurting anyone, getting an ending where the truth is revealed and everyone's happy, and seeing how positive actions affected all the characters. It helped me de-stress quite a bit after a tumultuous first semester in school, so when I went online to see the kinds of cool stuff fans have done and noticed a rather large amount of disturbing imagery relating to the Bad Ending, my first reaction was one of confusion and a bit of frustration. I was upset that there couldn't just be one thing that's happy end could be held sacred. When I thought about my reaction though, I realized that I was probably upset because I lacked the perspective of other people. I understand that everyone's personal preferences are none of my business, but if anyone is comfortable with kindly explaining why they prefer the Bad End to any of the others, please tell me so that I can broaden my spectrum of thought. I want to be more capable of being tolerant to those who I may disagree with in the future.

Because everyone loves Sans. The Genocide route is overrated because of Sans' battle, and the True Pacifist route is underrated.

Well most likely people are just genocidal people...ORRR they might just be looking for something diffrent... but the bad ending does give a message....(wink)

Actually, it's been proven that the human mind focuses on negative things more than positive things. That, and based on what art I've seen, the genocide route simply has more feels moments. I don't really like the bad ending either(I haven't even tried to get it myself); what art of the good ending I have seen(which is alot, don't worry, it exists) largely focuses on what happens afterward. What surface life is like for the monsters, Frisk's life after leaving the undergound, and often how Asriel(and/or Chara by plot magic) is brought to the surface(either as himself by plot magic, or as Flowey). There are almost always refrences to the bad ending, but they're used for the same message as Asriel's role in the game: no one is beyond redemption.

you know; there has been some recent rewards going around for inventory stuff regarding the 2016 edition games.... The trophies compiled for that well; one of them went to Undertale for: There's something in my eye... Straight to the point I did not expect that game to make me cry..... (still wonder what was going on when that happened but anyway) that game deserves a lot of praise for that... It is emotion that I think only really comes through the pacifist route but meh; I guess some people want ot get the full value out of their game.... I guess..... But; golly that's not a bad thing is it? :flowey:

mainly people don't care about story that much anymore, they just want a challenge thus when they hear genocide is hard they go gun hoe on it :papyrus:

Well, not only is the sans fight overrated, it's down right hard. Also, each route has a different lesson. Genocide shows you some actions can't be forgotten, Pacifism shows you some people can't be saved, Neutral shows you some actions can't be avoided. All of these are important lessons in life, And genocide also shows you there is no reset button in life, as when you complete it, things still happen when you do true pacifist, as you sold your soul.

You're welcome.

I don't have any Undertale Emoticons :(
The bad ending is specifically designed to be played after the good ending. It's the final path you're supposed to take (if you don't care about the Chara easter egg at the end of the soulless pacifist ending)

actually, i did a reset after beating sans so i had never completed a genocide route
