Why is there a 9999 damage hit mode?
What the hell? Why is there a mode where you can kill everything with 1-hit landing 9999 damage by pressing F3?

What exactly is the point of this? Lol.

In my Steam copy of the game, I can just press F3 and it makes Squall do 9999 damage to all enemies with one hit. It's even included in my digital manual that explains that function to "accelerate the game" or some such thing. It's really weird.

Oh wow, I did not know about that feature. That kinda does suck, though.
Same what they did with FFIX, they added a bunch of features where you become invincible.
I do not know why, though. For people who get desperate enough, perhaps?
Edit: I play with the controller, so did not know about this.

Well, for many of us this is more nostalgia than anything else. I for one have no issue with these titles having boosters. It's your choice to use them or not. I sometimes do. Sure. But I completed all 3 of the FF games from VII to IX at least 5 times each, previously. And have ammased THOUSANDS of hours playing these games as intended. So playing them with boosters on, well that just freshens up an old thing, for me. The booster I like most, is the speed boost, you know cause Squall and Zidane both suck at running.

Speed boost is acceptable, because especially in FFIX the battles are so slow. I know it gets pretty boring watching the same summon animations over and over again, too.
I meant the ones that makes you immortal, that is kinda.. meh. Regardless if you have beaten the game.
Edit: and I have beaten the games as well before.

it's a gabe Aug 21, 2016 @ 3:34pm
That's common with old games, as far as I know. These boosts are meant for people who just want to relieve the story without having to grind for 50-80h. If a newcomer uses it, that's their problem. You're not forced to use it.

On a side note, making Squall deal 9999 with a single hit isn't that difficult around disc 3. Depending on the enemy, Meltdown might be necessary to achieve this without hitting RB/R1, though.

Features? Boosters? There is nothing like that here, free cheats, yes, cheats, c-h-e-a-t-s. Stop with these cute words.

Call it what you will. Its not like its such a big deal. These are old titles many of us have beaten before, and way in the past at that. Getting irritated by their presence is just stupid. Just don't press F1 to F4.

Pff. Do not use this booster. :steamfacepalm:
On the hero-level of 100, damage in 9999 HP is just limitation of the game engine (not for GF Edem though). Kill with only this feature (F3-booster) Omega-weapon with its million(s) HP. :steammocking:
Hero HP has also limitation in 9999 HP, so even with "invincible"-feature and any other boosters he can die. :steammocking:
BTW: using death on attack allows to kill most enemies with any HP (which can access 9999); or the same effect by using zombi on attack + then resurrection; or just using restoration on undead or zombied with the same damage of 9999 HP as this F3-Booster.
I think that you just have bad knowledge about this game. :steammocking:

Aside from Omega Weapon on the castle, because somehow Death heals him . . . learned that the hard way on the old PSX.

yeah rather pointless when you dplay no level anyway lol

Yeah because alot of the newkid generation can't beat games that actually provide a challenge. So they add things like this to make it easy for them.

some people got handikaps, and i feel sorry that you are one of those. hope you will fix whatever is wrong with your head! :Doug:

Those boosters are great, especially the speedboost will be used by most players, while the rest is just there to joke around a bit, or, if someone is bad at gaming, ill, etc., helping those out, who need an hand holding them

I still have nightmares about Halo 3, 4 player co-op on Legendary difficulty...don't say newer games have no challenge. Because I know from that game and many others including newer than that, such a remark is BS.

Dark souls 1 to 3...anyone?

I played the original on Playstation so i never was able to do something like that, Why would they add this as a feature?

The cheat features are for people playing through for the story and dont care about the battles, also, for the people who cant beat the game (sadly there are quite a few of those arent there).

Considering how easy and exploitable FF8 is to begin with I don't think adding in boosters is some sort of unholy profaning. This game was never hard.
