Transferring FF to steam
I bought FFVII a while ago when steam did not have the game available from Square Enix. I just wanted to know if there was a way you could activate the same product key on steam, like I had done with my Sid Revolution game. Thanks.

No, Square Enix is not permitting people to register SE-store keys.

I want this too :( It's such a shame we can't

This is outrageous, considering I can no longer even access my original SE store download as it has expired. Literally no way for me to resume playing unless I buy it again on Steam. Someone please shoot them for this incompetence.

It's on a select amount of games that let you do that, usually either games that require Steam to run or those that are provided alongside DRM free copies (Humble store for instance). It's costlier than you think to give away so many Steam keys.

Wait for a 66-75% off sale.

Ah, that's silly. Well thank you everyone for the replies. I hope this gets changed.

Something tells me that it's not going to change, unfortunately :/

So you bought a game from one retailer with their TOS and everything that discussed download limits and time limits, and because you're unhappy with a TOS that you had to agree to (note you did not read it) you want ANOTHER retailer to give you a free copy..?

You and me both. Though you had to wait a little longer than I did to play it. ;)

It was more of a question rather than a demand. No one said I was upset. I had no clue steam was going to release the game, and thought that SE might have had a deal set up. Some games that you purchase through the publisher do have an activation for steam as well. Don't be so quick to get fussy.

i contacted Square support and no help over there. I just went out and bought a steam copy. But all your saves are still there......

Notice how on the store page on the SE store it doesn't call it an exclusive. Anywhere. At all. Now I know this might be too large a concept for you, but bear with me, it was a timed exclusive. Get over it.

Digital River is a garbage distribution platform and Steam isn't. Of course people are going to be upset they can't download thier game after 30 days when they know it's always available to download on Steam.

You can either buy the exact same game again or pester SquareEnix to release keys to existing customers. I hope more people sign the petition and bug SE customer service until they give in.

We may not be 'entitled' to a better product but SquareEnix should at least understand the value of keeping their customers happy.
