How to put MIDI back like the 1998 version?
For some reason 99% of people seems to love the PS1 OST, but I think it's too choppy and stuffy, it doesn't feel like real instruments, well that's my opinion.

I really want to know a way to make the game run MIDI files just like the original 1998 PC release, the Steam version uses streamed OGG files, so I can't change the sound font and convert every single MIDI into OGG and loop every single one of them is a pain.
Is there a mod or code to make the game run MIDI just like the original, I wanted to play the General Midi or the Yamaha XG sound fonts and change them freely without having to convert everything manually. (I know there is a discussion about the Yamaha XG but no one created a mod for the General Midi one)

When I search about this question, it only appears the "change the awful midi to ps1", but never "change ogg to midi" or "change the stuffy ps1 music to midi and change sound fonts freely".

So I LITERALLY just bought the game on Steam (It's the only game I have), just to post about this.

Since the Steam version is based of the original 1998 PC release, I think there must be a code or some sorta of way to make it run the music like the original.

There are mods. I am sure someone on here or on the group below could help you. I suggest asking on this group:

there are also people on this forum that could help you too. I do not use mods, so i suggest you wait until one of them answers this post.

I saw this group, but to post something I need to have at least 5$ of purchases for some reason :/

Some steam features are limited until you spend at least $5 on Steam. It’s basically to cut down on people making troll accounts.

I have a question... Did steam version have the Midi files originally?
I have the PC CD rom and its on that one. But considering this takes from that version... i am curious?

It did, they eventually replaced it with the PSX soundtrack.
