WTF is wrong with you. I think 2013 Lara infinitely sexier than this Lara transgendered boy. Since when is flat = strong women? Once you become an adult you will understand that you don't talk like a kid.

This just has more detail and look more realistic then she did in the reboot.

Lazy eye confirmed lol.

Anyway she is average now we just got to suck it up. The Tall, Fit, busty, hot girl is gone to be replaced by Jane Doe. With a lazy eye.

No, she is just more realistic, the Lara Croft from before was unrealistic and rather sexist to a degree, i mean thin, severely curvy and big chested is well.....stupid by today's standards, hell women that have big breasts are getting reductions cause it gives them back aches.

now-a-days, DD is really big, B and C are considering the normal size, depending on the woman's body type, petite are B-C cup and slim is more of a C-D cup....that is what is standard now.

I can assure you, ROTTR Lara is not flat-chested, she appears to be a C or D cup or so, that is not flat-chested, you need to stop thinking like a Teenager that has just started to get their Hormones. :-) lol

That is not my point. The point is why does boob the main concern? Why changed from who she was to become someone else. It's PERFECTLY fine to me if this is NOT Lara Croft. This is a question of WRONG DOING by Crystal Dynamics. Seriously, if people were not complaining about her looks or body but complaining about mass murdering, shooting and killing, tell me are they going to f* turn the game to be a kids game with rainbows? If Lara Croft were previously a FAT woman, and certain MINORITIES are complaining why she is so fat, Is Crystal Dyanics going to turn her to a walking stick?

If Lara Croft was a woman and they announce due to the story, she decided to become TRANS-GENDERED in view of supporting LGBT for the current trend, are they going f* do it? What Crystal Dynamics have done here was utterly wrong.

If people thinks that it's all about the boobs as the way of making conclusions, then they are probably not very bright to start a to understand the current situation in the state of gaming industry. The main disappointment is how Crystal Dynamics handled the franchise not as a mature developer but like a kid that fell to a bait of game censorship by certain groups.

She is more relatable for the average couch potato you mean. She used to be portrayed by gorgeous tall fitness models now its just your regular football mum.

In the past it was more cartoony and ofc they had to adjust things to make it more realistic but they went overboard. Who are you to say what size a woman's bust should be? Thats discrimination right there you should be ashamed , people are born how they are and women should be proud of such a feature.

They are trying to find the middle way. They want to appease the body hating feminists but on the other hand they don't want to exclude the young male crowd. So a typical 20 something student body with a B-cup..I laughed at the D cup quote lol...makes both happy. However the older fans expect Lara to be well...Lara, an extraordinarily gorgeous, kick ass woman. They are killing their own franchise.

Nope, its not discrimination, for me, its peronal taste, if its too big......yuck....if its too small, meh.

It has to be smack-dab in the middle for me to find it attractive and sexy, its just my taste i guess, i am just saying that Lara in TR2013 had bigger than average breasts, which in my opinion, a tad too big, the Lara in ROTTR, she looks more modern, more realistic in today's society.

Bring back the Rack! Next you will be saying you don't miss her long legs and shorts? Stumpy legs are hot nowadays i guess. I see enough plain jane's on a daily basis.

Ask yourself this - How many male heroes are relatable to the average man? They are also larger than life so why should women be any different?

She was so much better in Tomb Raider:

If they kept the same design and used the new technologies we whould've got something like this:

http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/j0efsmpndxod86en1ag4.jpg

Just incredible!

No actually, I'm just trolling.

My point is Lara never really had a real face of his own, so using the actress face seems understadable. (And I actually like it!)

Saying that she is supposed have a set design something is nonsense. Nothing is written.
The didn't ruin anything.
This is just a matter of taste.

The thing to keep in mind is there are a lot more female gamers now than ever. So, Crystal Dynamics want a character these young women can relate to as well. Most women do not have DD breasts just like most men aren't hung like Ron Jeremy. It's not so much Political Correctness, but trying to reflect the real world and current standards we live in.

If this were the 1950s and '60s, old Lara would be more appropriate because she was originally a more atheletic version of Marylin Monroe, for all intensive purposes. In fact, that is a pure male fantasy to the Nth degree. That's not the beauty standard today for most adults (25+) who are gaming's mainstream audience. Even Pamela Anderson had breast reduction surgery (after her implants burst) because boobs aren't the main thing that defines a woman (real or fictional) in the 21st Century...

Look up Nell McAndrew, Rhona Mitra, Alison Carroll who were once the face of Lara. Strong athletic women. Just as Lara was portrayed to be in the games. Former fitness model, British olympic gymnast...women who represented the character well.

Lara has always had a "face".

i think male gamers fall into this assumption pretty frequently. most female gamers i know WANT to play a sexy girl. the same as if i'm playing a video game i don't want to play as joe couch potato, i'd be chris evans, chris hemsworth, jason statham over seth rogan or jonaj hill any day regardless of which actually represents a normal guy or myself. wouldn't you?

if we're going to say hey lets make Lara fit with what the current girl actually is, she probably shouldn't be shooting AK 47s, swimming in rivers in siberia during the winter, killing men by the hundreds, stabbing people with ice axes, shooting arrows into logs and then climbing them, killing wolves with hand held arrows, walking on balance beams hundreds of feet in the air freehand climbing buildings, strangling assassins underwater while she holds her breath, hunting killing and skinning bears... i guess what we're learning is that Lara has very little in common with a normal regular girl... so wtf does she have to look like one? no one's asking for tomb raider 1996, but alioson carroll, the model from underworld... yeah i think that's perfectly ok to be using even in today's "enlightened" world.

if you're still thinking no Lara should look realistic maybe we should have lara acting realistic like spending the whole game in therapy like the other survivors of the yamatai incident. or doing homework or working a 9-5 job, you know, normal stuff.

You are right video games are a fantasy / power-play / wish-fullfillment media and while there is always suspension of disbelief... The core (character) of the game has to be relatable in some way. Especially in a character-driven series the new TR have become.

If you think about it, Lara is the ultimate fiction since none of her attributes -- physical or mental -- Are remotely relatable, so the devs have to do something to bring Lara "down to Earth" so to speak, and... One way is to not make her look like Pam Anderson / Marylin Monroe because that takes the fantasy over the top, ironically.

It's hard to explain, but making Lara more "plain" is a conscious move to make the character more reltable considering everything she does and experiences isn't relatable at all. Like you wrote, she should be suffering from PTSD, but instead, she dives right back into the stuff that traumatized the other survivors.

In all honestly, I think the TR 2013 version looks suspiciously like Jennifer Lawrence, and I am sure this was done intentionally because of her popularity and the popularity of the "Hunger Games" movies / books that feature a lot of the things Lara does e.g. shoot bows, kick ass, etc. So, the wish-fullfillment element was there, but at the same time, balanced out with making teenage (19?) Lara a lot greener and inexperienced. Now, the series is moving back toward what most of us veteran gamers would consider "normal" Lara where the more fantastic things she does don't phase her as much.
