this game is killing my PC
Hello everyone.

i decided to play this game again after long years the last time i played it.
i get high fps on max settings. the game has no FPS limiter so my GPU and CPU always full load.
no other game my CPU reach 95c temp. i thought BF5 and BF2042 are killing my CPU but i was wrong. this game is in another level.

Force VSync or set your monitor to lower Hz.

you are right its work and cap my fps at monitor Hz when i lower it. thanks for the help.

There's also "Radeon Chill" on AMD to cap your fps, on Nvidia there's "Max Frame Rate" settings on the driver.

NVIDIA CP can set Max FPS Limit.
There is also RivaTuner.

If you hitting 95*C, something wrong with your overall cooling. Nothing to do with Games.

If you are on the balanced power plan then follow this https://www.howto-connect.com/set-minimum-and-maximum-processor-state-windows-10/ and set the max processor state on plugged in to 99%. That will disable the cpu turbo boost and force the games to run on base clock speed. If you got 95°C before in the game then you will get a huge temp drop and you should get under 75°C. I know that disabling the cpu turbo boost can drop the game performance but if you have a powerful pc then you won't notice a performance drop. If you are on high performance plan then setting max processor state to 99% will get ignored.

my cooling is great i use 2 fans CPU cooler from well known brand. with stress tests my CPU temp always under 90.
games that do this kind of high temp mostly games with no fps limiter like Battlefield 2042. not only for me but for many others.

i used Vsync and monitor Hz down to 60 until i finished the game it was good solution, thank for trying to help.

You can have the best CPU cooler in the world. It won't do much by itself. You need better Case Cooling/Airflow.

Your CPU or GPU really shouldn't be hitting above 70-75*C on modern day hardware. Maybe on older hardware.

Don't use VSync=On on anything, period.
Set VSync = Fast or Adaptive + GSync or FreeSync

AMD GPUs get hot though and it's quite normal for them to hit around 90*C anyways.

dont pair high end hardware with cheap 1080p monitor

my Case from Corsair have 2 big front fans, one very big side fan, one back fan.

depends on your hardware. if you have low end hardware then always will be cool. if you have 8C 16th CPU with good GPU and the game have no FPS limiter your GPU will be over 80c temp sometimes 90c. your CPU also will run hot and mostly depend on the game.

Vsync is alright in single player games.
Freesync will not work if you don't cap your FPS under your monitor Hz. and some games doesn't have FPS limiter.

AMD GPU are not hotter than Nvidia, my father RTX 3080 run hotter than my 6800 XT.
and my older Nvidia card was even hotter.

and also my room the air conditioning always at 22c temp.
so the problem is nothing but the game. and Vsync fixed it for me.
thank you for the tips, and for the help.

Thats not a game problem. It is cooling system problem

I play this on 1440p at high setting on "Quality" DLSS on a laptop. My temperatures does not exceed 79°C at 90 FPS.

Also the game is capped at 140 fps since the engine causes a lot of issues at higher fps (Well the issues starts after 60 but at the end of the day the fps are capped at certain point).

79c for the GPU? or CPU?
my GPU temp is fine, the problem is with CPU temp.
most laptops have thermal throttling around 90c so the performance will drop to keep the temp down. desktops can have this feature in the bios but mostly its OFF by default.

When thermal throttling is ON the themperature does not exceed 70°C and also the frameratee is not so high

According to with HWinfo my max CPU temperature while im playing is 85°C

The only time i reched 98°C was when it was brand new and unadvertly run 2 games at the same time (And i didnt had thermal throttling)

It was really common for me play at 90-95°C all the time until i change the thermal paste.

I also had a desktop PC 2 years ago. All thermal issues was due the cooling system. All the times my CPU run hotter was bc i didnt upgrade the cooling system.

If your PC is still alive trust me. Is not the game. Is something wrong on your cooling system a victim of New World beta assures you that.

CPU cooler is : DARK ROCK PRO 4 from brand name called Be Quiet. yes the name is Be Quiet. its a behemoth with 2 fans.
the fans speed curve is full at 85c.
the case is kinda old from Corsair with 4 fans. all are medium size and one is very large in the side.
CPU temp with stress test apps always 90c or less. and in all games 85c or less.
only few games like BF5 and BF2042 CPU max temp reach 90c.
and with Rise of the Tomb Raider 95c max tem.
also i am using HWMonitor to check the max temp.
another thing is my room is always cold all the time.

Use the build 811.3 then. Is more stable. But you had to say goodbye to DLSS if you want to give it a try.

The current version of the game has the coop issue that does not work properly. But the performance issues are gone.

Oh yeah btw. The DLSS version activates Epic Games Launcher and idk if it is the case for you but for me if the epic games services are activated the GPU and CPU usage goes up a little bit. That migth be it what causes your issue.

The game connects to Square Enix Servers trougth Epic Games Servers so even if you dont go into the endurance menu the server will be on each time you start the game.
