cannot refill oil flask

used up oil crafting fire arrows / dragonfire shells / upgrading gears, went back to the two yellow oil cans(one in the tower one near flamethrower boss) in geothermal valley, it does not prompt me to collect oil. Pressing E does nothing. Someone on this forum mentioned that oil can be refilled as many times as you want. What's wrong?

Greets. Try fast travelling to another area, then come back. Speaking from memory, but almost think that happened to me too, but it wasn't a problem as I never used the advanced arrows etc. So never had the need to restock much on anything.

tried fast travelling many times, including killing myself, still can't refill oil... game must be bugged.

The first time after I used the yellow oil can, it still prompt E to fill up, while my oil resource was already full. After loading the save, the yellow can went completely dead.

You don't have to worry. You get plenty of salvage and chances to top up reserves throughout the game. I think those particular spots may be bugged or intentionally unable to be filled from again.

Thanks. I think it's bugged consider the prompt disappeared after S/L first use. I will get the can in the Logging camp to upgrade my gears.

Ok, I grabbed the oil puddle near the camp in Geothermal Valley, and my oil resource ends up exceeding the max, reaching 52/40 LOL (was 12/40 before).
The puddle also has the same issue. After the first use it still prompts to refill but says full. After reload checkpoint the prompt is gone forever...
