Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition

Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition

The regular Darksiders2 is gone from the shop... Deathinitely a stupid idea
I just stumbled over this whole thing a few minutes ago and I'm a bit confused...
Reading the reviews about this it seems that "Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition" is poorly optimzed has quite some bugs and is prone to crashes.
And the 'normal' Darksiders II is no longer in the shop, so even if I just wanted to buy another dlc or simply the actually working game I simply can't because it's not in the shop anymore.

What monkey on rollerblades came up with that idea?

Edit: Update for everyone stumbling over this thread:
Word has it the bugs mentioned in the reviews are actually fixed but noone bothered to change his/her review to adress that.

We will fix the Deathinitive Edition even further and we will maybe make the legacy SKU available to all owners of the Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition however we need to check if this is exploit safe.

Okay...
And what about people who, for example, bought the regualar version of the game and now can't get any dlc's because the shop page no longer exists?
Are they supposed to buy the Deathinitive Edition, effectively buying the game twice? + they need to wait until you fixed that glich-fest up?
Same goes for people who bought all but 1-2 dlc's. They don't get the new edition because they didn't want the angel armor, or something like that...

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to bash you guys. But the decisions done here simply make no sense for me.
Just like that monkey.

And to be perfectly honest: I've no idea what you mean with 'legacy SKU'.
*searches web* hmmm... I still have no idea...

You can make the DS2 DLCs available without placing the original DS2 for sale.

You can also add the original DS2 app (https://steamdb.info/app/50650/info/) to the DS2DE package (https://steamdb.info/sub/73559/). So who buys DS2DE also gets a "Darsiders II" entry in their library.

Just because they made bad decision doesn't justify you calling them monkey. Who are you, above all humans?

I didn't call them monkey.
I asked what monkey on rollerblades came up with that idea.
A dev taking advise from a monkey skating by is an other topic ^^
(This is a figure of speech for something incredibly absurd)

Besides: What do you have against monkeys? :steamfacepalm:

FYI, OP, they've already addressed all of the glaring performance and crashing isues and have promised to continue working on the game. I'm running it now and it looks and performs better than the original did, sans a few odds and ends.

I gewt them removing the original to prevent people from accidentally buying the original and feeling they got ripped off.

Anyway, I strongly recommend picking this up over the original. It's a really great upgrade.

Well, that is one way to see it.
It is still a confusing decision.
This is basically a weirdly named goty edition with polished graphics and I can't think of a single game that was flat out removed from the shop because a goty edition came out.

Hmm.. it seems like the game suffers from what I came to call the 'Eador snydrome': The massive bugs and errors are fixed but the reviews didn't change :steamsad:
As I wrote on my first post. I stumbled over the whole thing and saw the bad reviews.
And after reading some of these I was baffled to find out that the original game was gone from the shop.

Batman: Arkham Asylum. Batman: Arkham City. Bioshock 2, Divinity: Original Sin, Q.U.B.E., two versions of Divinity II, DiRT3, Blood Bowl, Blood Bowl Dark Elves edition, Final Fantasy XI (two editions), Metro Last Light, No Time to Explain, Sleeping Dogs, Spellforce, Wasteland 2, State of Decay, Sword of the Stars, The Whispered World, Deus Ex:Human Revolution....

Need I go on? It is a normal business practice when actual changes to the game are being made. The Game of the Year editions you are talking about are just glorified complete bundles, NOT REMASTERS like this.

Many of the bad reviews are due to negative PR from misconceptions about the discount program the game launched with combined with a bug which was fixed within 24 hours. People were quick to lash out at the Publisher, Nordic, and took it out on the Reviews page.

I think after this first week, positive reviews will become the norm -- we've already moved from "Very Negative" to "Mixed" in just a few days.

Honestly, just pick it up and see for yourself. If you don't like it, return it. Make it to the Cauldron and I imagine you'll be sold.

Hmm, I stand corrected. But Blood bowl seriously doesn't count ^^
(Edit: And I can't see a goty for Bioshock2 at all. But maybe that's because it's censored in my country...)

I'm broke right now so I can't buy it even with the 80% discount ^^''''
But I still hope the reviews keep changing for the better.
Remember what I called the 'Eador syndrome'? Eador is a pretty cool game but still has a ton of bad reviews in which people complain about bugs and missing features, despite the fact all of these are fixed for about a year now. As a result they are stuck at 'Mixed'.

Are you for real? The game has been out for years, if you haven't got the DLC boo-bloody-hoo.

I personally hope they don't bring the old version back to the store, as it would send a totally mixed signal. We've moved on, get over it. If you didn't buy Darksiders 2 for the years it was available under THQ, you've got no business making ridiculous demands here now.

The BioShock 2 one wasn't strictly a GOTY. They replaced the version they had before, which used Games for Windows Live, including for DLC purchases (which weren't on Steam), with a new version that uses Steamworks and had all the DLC included (so basically what most GotY editions do). Everybody who owned the previous edition got the update for free, and retail keys were added to Steam, too.

Yes I'm for real. There are still shops that sell physical copys of the game. That's a simple fact.
People who buy it from such a shop or get it as a gift for whatever reason can't get any other content.
And what are the shops supposed to do? Throw the discs away? Do they get compensation? I don't know, do you?
Are you just here because you wanted to bash someone or do you want to say something meaningful? Because right now you just make yourself look like a jackass.

Oh cool, didn't know that.
There sure was some chaos when Games for Windows Live went down.
