You can toggle them from the settings menu or by pressing F1.

They turned the nice watercolor look of the original into a crappy 1$ ipod game

It was probably the best they could do for such an old game (cost wise). You probably would have liked graphics like Broken Age. Do you think the interest in a 20 years old adventure game is big enough to justify redrawing the art completely from scratch? I personally like the remastered Version of DOTT better than Monkey Island for example - I think that looked really ugly. It is true that they used vector shapes to replace the old pixel art, but at least they stay as close to the original as possible. I was surprised how "acurate" they did the new graphics. And besides, the new control scheme and music do improve the game experience. This is all just my opinion of course.

The graphics feel like they have been auto-vectorized instead of properly repainted, they don't really add any detail, they just smooth out the pixels. It's nice that they stuck very close to the original graphics, but a lot of detail that was implied by the pixels now just feels smoothed away.

The graphics make the game feel like an upscaled old game, instead of a modern one. Not bad, but they could have done better (see Deponia games or any of the other Daedalic ones). I still prefer this over Monkey Island, where they added more detail, but changed the original style quite drastically.

Well it must of been, because the new graphics are hand drawn

They did not auto trace the graphics.

There is a difference between creating new hand drawn art and "copy" existing art. The new graphics are not "drawn", they are "clicked" (vector points). You dont need to be an artist to do that, you need to be a graphic designer/Illustrator. Broken age has hand drawn graphics and the artists are much more expensive than some interns who just graduated from art school clicking vector shapes.

If you see pixelation of the background when the game zooms in, it means the background is an image and not, like DOTT, vector shapes.

By the way: You can play the game with the combination of oldgraphics/new music/new control scheme, which is great too for widescreen.

It looks a lot better than what ScummVM does with hq4x and other upscalers. Of course, if you don't like the art style (you want more detail, a glossy look, and whatnots) then you're simply out of luck. I'm not sure a more realistic/detail look would've worked for this game.

I don't have issues with the art, but the controls somehow I was hoping for better. I always feel like something should happen when I click on an item, or double click, I don't like hangeling through right click select from menu left click. Or perhaps switch the action icon with a mousewheel. But oh well.:steamhappy:

The wheel mechanic comes from the original verb system, which the game and more importantly the puzzles are based on.

And I can tell you that switching the actions with mouse wheel or right click is a horrendous way of playing an adventure game. If you do not believe me, try Sam and Max.

You can point cursor to an object and then just press corresponding to action key on keyboard. That's especially handy for that bell achievement.
