Is there any day-count on campaign mode?

I can't see which day I'm in on the campaign mode. Also there isn't any missions to complete levels. What is this? Am I missing something here?

The other mode, where you work at other restaurants, has been unlocking recipes for me. Or maybe just when you get a gold rating on them? (First day, haven't tested that extensively.)

You need to work for other restaurants to earn money, there are different levels on each restaurant. You earn cash, medals and extra items. I've actually unlocked two more dishes to purchase. Obviously the email system will be fixed shortly within the next couple of days. But play the other "levels" rather than just your tower. This also helps you get ahold of new food items.
