Possible to play vegetarian or vegan?
Hello Cooking Sim friends,

I've been looking for a game with the capacity to play as a vegetarian or vegan chef/restauranteur. Does this game, or any other, have this? Thanks :)

Well, there's no explicit "Vegetarian" or "Vegan" box to check, but considering the amount of variety in available food items, I think it's likely you can draw up a number of Vegetarian/Vegan only menus.

Now I'm thinking, a large number of food items come with a huge amount of recipes : perhaps Devs could add in options to remove non-vegetarian/non-vegan recipes from orders for those items in your restaurant (that could be manageable in Player Options).

You can put whatever you want on the menu and there's more than enough non meat entrees in the game so I don't see why not.

There's also a cafe update coming so you can make a coffee shop.

there's actually a vegetable themed place in the cook for hire section, but they're not strictly vegetarian. it would be cool if there was a toggle for that, though...

The problem with being vegetarian is that a lot of foods that are vegetarian at their base may have recipes with meat ingredients, such as the entree salad which can be topped with chicken. Even pies have a mincemeat pie recipe.

My husband and I have been pretending some foods are actually their vegan varieties, such as the chicken nuggets being like Gardein nuggets and such. We made our custom restaurant with easy to pretend foods. We haven't unlocked everything yet to know which dishes are truly 100% vegan with no options for customers to make it omnivorous, but there are plenty of foods that can be imagined as such.

For some people that is just the type of place they want to run. There are many types of restaurants, and many restaurants specialize in a cuisine type. Many people would enjoy running a place that makes food they themselves like to eat or that goes along with their philosophy of food.

In short, I suppose, while video games are of course not real life, that does not mean they may not be tied to real life elements or exempt from being something of an extension of our real life.

Despite the name, many mincemeat recipes don't use meat.

A vegan/vegetarian option to disable certain ingredients would be awesome.

Related, I realized today my poor husband would not be able to eat at most of the chef for hire restaurants, since he is gluten intolerant. So I have now designed a menu in my own restaurant for gluten free :). Just quickly looking over the options, vegetarian at least won't be too bad to design a bit into the game, vegan might be a bit more challenging. It will take a bit of time cooking other things though until you earn the money to buy everything you need for your menu.
