That's odd though, usually if I get DC but get back into the match before it's over I won't suffer the Goodwill penalty.
And it has to be a match without you quitting the game.
The matchmaker will give queue priority to players in the top tier (level 20) and try to match them together first, then it will try to match people in the medium tier (level 10-19), then the bottom tier (level 1-9), and finally the trash tier (level 0). So top tier players have basically 0% chance of playing with trash tier players, a small chance of playing with bottom tier players, a moderate chance of playing with mid tier players, and a high chance of playing with top tier players. This also means that people who don't DC get much shorter queue times than players who DC regularly.
I think a system like this would do a lot more to fix the DC/AFK problems Smite has, while also giving a little more leeway for the rare computer/internet problem disconnect not forcing you to start over.
