Sneak? Sneak! But how...

Just bought the game and wanted to go with my favorit stealth shooter build as in Fallout 3/Vegas. Now I try to do stealth attack but I don´t know how. Getting with sneaking in melee range always causing the enemys to turn around and do the first hit...

Sneaking isn't an intended combat skill in F2. Sneak attacks are an Elder Scrolls mechanic, not Fallout one (when talking about "Fallout" 3, also known as Foblivion)

You can't sneak attack in the original Fallouts, dude. This is getting too common when people played the Gamebryo games first, only to expect the older games are exactly like Elder Scrolls for some crazed reason.

You have to have a perk for it if I am correct, and it only works with unarmed attacks.

Still unarmed is quite fun.

Slayer with knifes and sledgers are totally worth the trouble, because you crit all the time with it.

There is the ninja perk, and that works with knifes/swords too iirc. That has the conditions of being in sneak mode, non-detected, and facing the back three hexes of the target. Although it can kill a lot of things in one hit, targets are seldom alone, and this will alert everyone else to your presence, so that perk is quite high on the absolutely useless list.

Another sad thing is, the vanilla game has scripts that do not check if you're currently sneaking. That skill isn't very reliable as it used to be in FO1, I think.

Sneaking is pretty much only worth it for a handful of scenarios and maybe stealing. Otherwise it's one of the less useful skills.
