Which route do you use when starting a new game?
In the beginning of the game after going through Arroyo, you can do either the normal route or Navarro route. The Navarro route requires more points in Outdoorsman (sometimes luck) to make it to San Fran, Navarro and back. The normal route goes normally (Klamath, the Den, anywhere else).

Which route do you go through?

I'm currently on my first run, and I took the "normal" route I guess, I'm currently at the Den. I'm like a sniperish type of char, high AGI, PER, LCK, low STR and such...
I'm strugling with guns tho, so far the only fire wep that I have owned is the "Single shot rifle kinda thing" found on Vic's house at Klamath, and I'm wondering: Where can I found a decent gun?! xD

At Klamath, at the trapper's den, there was a 10mm pistol near the 'mini-boss' in the abandoned mine where the rats come from. If you have patience, you could go into Sneak mode behind Metzger and steal his shotgun (with a decent Steal). Flick's "may" sell a .44 magnum if you 'check his wares again'; he also has a hunting rifle (perfect for your sniper build) but you may need to kill him if it doesn't show up after a few tries. Doing Lara's work can net you some 10mm pistols.

Thanks man! I got to the trappers rats caves, but the 10mm pistol was covered in blood and I couldn't take it cause the blood covering the item (go figure).
But anyway I killed Tubby and Flick already cause I read somewhere that u can kill them without consecuences and I stole all his stash lol.

I almost always use the way Black Isle intended. Arroyo, Klamath, Den, Vault City/Gecko, New Reno, NCR, San Francisco (while doing anything what's inbetween those, obviously).

I usually skip Reno and do a Klamath–Den–Vault City–Gecko–NCR one, then gear up at the NCR by stealing every damn think I can carry. :) After that it's just a matter of whether I want to get rid of quests as fast as I can or just want to make sure I travel as little as possible.

The Restoration Project fixes the problem with the 10mm gun being covered in blood. It also adds lots of other cut content back into the game. You should give it a try. Just google it, easy to find.

Yes I heard of the Restoration Project but the thing is that I'm already too late in the game (If being at The Den is late) and I don't know if the saves from vanilla FO2 are "usable" in that patch :\ Anyone know something about this?

There's this download which forces removal of blood, and dead bodies if their inventories are empty; http://nirran.com/FTP/Destroy%20Bodies.7z

I seriously doubt Restoration Project supports vanilla savegames, but I you might wanna start with the unofficial patch first if you only want fixes.

Restoration Patch is what I'm using currently, just so I can explore places and quest paths cut from the final game.

Ok I will have this on mind, thanks! Maybe I'll play vanilla this run and in the second (cause I'll definetly will do a second run) I'll try the Restoration Project. Thanks guys :)

Has anyone tried the Navarro run?
talgaby Oct 23, 2014 @ 12:38am
Every speedrunner on this game. :) Personally I never wanted to do a speedrun, so I only did Frisco runs.

I managed to complete a Navarro run twice in the vanilla edition (with lots of reloads and quicksaving). And those were on 'normal' playthroughs.

Navarro runs are way harder when you have the "ddraw" mod in the Fallout 2 directory, because it was made to fix that problem with Super Sonic-world map travel that made random encounters rarely or never trigger.

Well, playing without that fixed is not what I'd consider legit gameplay. It's cheating, basically.
