Vault city: raiders and medical library
have 2 questions for vault city. They keep mentioning raiders attacking them, but I can't find their base. I also can't talk to the gangster guy in New Reno (to give him the briefcase) since I helped another family.

Also, from medical library computer I learnt something about making my bones stronger or something similar. Who can perform that operation on my character?

Tnx

1) Are you a made man for a family or did you attack a member of the Bishops? That's the only reason I can think of that makes them attack you. Interesting enough, the guy you want to see has a copy of the map to locate the Raiders in a trapped safe upstairs... If you can't talk to him, you might as well kill them all and get the safe open. If you don't have the Restoration Project installed, I think you can just find the Raiders by walking to their location...

2) IIRC, the doctor in Redding (Doc Johnson) is the cheapest (and thus best) option to get the surgery.

By the way: there is a non-violent option to clear out the raider camp. Most people never find it though.

That was cut from the final game, man. Though, I know it has to do with making Shadow-Who-Walks defect from the Bishops to make up for kidnapping Sulik's sister.

You sure? I never even heard about the restoration project until around '10, but I remember clearing out the cave peacefully long before that.

Yes, I'm sure. Did you have Sulik with you or not before trying to do something? Did the tribal-looking man with a spear do anything other than responding to you with silence?

Before I tried speaking with him I always sneaked around the tribal and started sniping the raiders. When I actually tried to speak with him, the option just came up. And no, I don't remember ever using Sulik apart from my second play through, like 13 years ago. Frankly, I haven't used a companion in Fallouts since like '05. They just cause way more problems than they ever solve.

The tribal looking for his missing sis is a nice idea for a bit, at least if the intent is to search for his to-be-revealed-in-unreleased-Fallout-3-a-k-a-Van-Buren where she's revealed to be named Kurisu. As for the companions causing trouble, everyone sees it when it comes to giving them burst weaponry (I literally thought Sulik and Marcus were traitors let alone idiots because the AI in the Fallout engine gives zero effs about shooting civilians in the area)...but that's where Direct NPC control comes in; you can control your companions in combat like in Interplay's Wasteland, never having to be worried about the artificial stupidity but can also do aimed shots even if you're a Fast Shot. [Sulik stabbin' slavers' eyes out like a boss, melee weaponry is his tag skill]
Of course, it has to be manually added to the ddraw.ini, go ahead and fulfill John Cassidy's dream of avenging his lost eye so he can blind people!

Oh, I know about that. Still, I prefer soloing. I solo games like Baldur's Gate and FO: Tactics and a bunch of others too because I find it easier, despite the games being designed for a full party, sometimes up to six people.

I don't know why that's *easier*, solo is more like harder to me when it comes to turn-based RPGs since there there'd only be me...all alone...against an army of Enclave bigots and whatnot.

I can focus on one player character instead of trying to micromanage a small group. It's easier to formulate a strategy and carry it out. Group strategies have their own advantage in boss fights or specific circumstances, but in most games I found that this is rarely if ever needed.
