Also it's advised to store as much money as you can in meds and chems, since they are weightless. Buying all rare ammo and explosives is a good idea too.
Cassidy: Rifles n' pistols, plus a surprising skill in laser or plasma-shooting pistols...
Mutant friend: Energy guns and rocket launchers with ease, but get out of his way when he dons a minigun or the result'll be tragic like with Ian's bursts!
Also, feel free to kill any random-encounter caravan master who doesn't want to trade with you like I do (put your guns away before you approach first!). They hate me being a do-gooder so I pump their ugly heads, free stuff.
Met the 1st merchant @ NCR, but he is poor also, altho has some advanced weapons.
(By the way, with mid-low sneak and high-very high steal you can rob those shelves for free. You can get combat armours, H&K SMGs and an almost limitless supply of .223 ammo from it.)
Also, the other one inside the city has two stocks, one for each table (cannot steal).
