Cannot join the Brotherhood of Steel

I think I have managed to bug the entry quest to get into the Brotherhood of Steel. I spoke to Cabbot and said something to him which made him annoyed. Now I can't get him to give me the quest to join the Brotherhood. He keeps on asking if I want to be let back in to the vault (I've never been inside), and the only options are "Yes" and "If you'll let me". Nothing happens regardless of which one I choose. He says "Fine" and the conversation ends. I can't get through the door. I even went to the Glow and got the holodisk but he doesn't notice that I have it and won't let me give it to him.

Is there a way I can join the Brotherhood or is this quest totally bugged? Can I reset it somehow?

If your Intelligence is 3 or lower you can't finish this quest because the BoS have a minimum IQ requirement for joining them. No joke ask Darrel the guard next to Cabbot about it.

Maybe drug yourself Mentats (raises Intelligence) and try to talk with him again.

Yeah, I had read about that being an issue but that's not the case here - my intelligence is 6.

Hm than it looks like a bug. Can you reload an old save and try again?

I have overwritten most of my saves. What exactly am I missing out on if I can't enter the complex? How many missions and items?

2 only sets of T-51b power armor, attribute increasing implants, BOS combat armor, 3 sets of ammo of your choice, couple guns of your choice. One quest to save a brotherhood initiate and scouting mariposa. Science skill increase if low.

I'm in the same situation right now, did you ever get in?

Something like this happended to me but I remember asking if I could join up. He came back with a response about going to a place and bringing something of value back. After I did that they let me in but before that he kept asking me if I wanted to come in and I would reply yes and nothing would happen.

The power armor and the stats upgrades are great, i wouldn't call it "not much".

Nope :( Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a solution to this. Glad to see I'm not the only one who has seen this bug. I couldn't find any mention of it anywhere.

An electronic pick and a high lock pick skill will get you in. A regular pick will also get you in but you will be attacked.

I got the same bug. Using Fallout Fixt mod, just the Purist build. I didn't say anythign insulting, but didn't ask how to join on my first meeting, so now he's permanently bugged. Anyone know of console commands to unbug him?

Found a fix.

I reloaded old save, and went to Brotherhood Zone. Then made new save. That creates a BRODHENT.SAV file in that save slot's folder in the savegames folder.

Go into Savegames folder of the data folder from theFallout game directory and copy BRODHENT.SAV from that slot save and copy-paste it over to the save slot file you want to use. (Make sure your character isn't on the Brotherhood zone map of course or you get ffffff error, I just walked outside into the wasteland and made a map and saved.)

Also to note, since I'm using Fallout Fixt mod, I actually had to use the save game directory from the Fallout Fixt directory within the regular Fallout directory.

Hope this helps others. So far game is great and runs smoother than ever otherwise.
