But you know, it still ends in male tears, and she drinks them, Maybe unintentionally but still... it's so emotionally devastating if you're a sensitive person.
Perhaps some people won't respond to the way the story goes, you can avoid alot of that with conversation but it makes me so sad that I just replayed until day 2 or 3 and then stopped because I don't want to remember :P
They would have done it because the players wanted it, not because it corresponded to the character she is.

So after giving this some thought I come to the following conclusion, and it hits me on how it's the same as what the devs think, and it's actually a very powerful message.
I felt played by her but actually this isn't really something that you have to blame on HER. And it's not personal. You project it too much on yourself as a player if you feel down because of that. (and my god did I feel down), But in the story, she is very well aware that the main protagonist has a wife and so she holds back. Delilah has much class! And the protagonist should be thankful for that.
It's one of these occasions where the affection with world NPC's you have "as the observer" clearly becomes an affliction and conflicts with the story.YOU (the gamer) have this potential crush/relationship with D where you really want to meet her and she denies you that, and you can make henry feel sad about this as well (or lighten up the last conversation) but the mutual interchangability stops there. He might feel sad about not meeting her. You can think she's witty and sarcastic and likes YOU and grows on YOU (the gamer) and assume she wants to meet YOU. But her moral limit is not your moral limit as the player, it's towards Henry's. And as the dev says she wants out.
She is a legendary lady simply because she doesn't forget that "Henry" has a disabled wilfe he has to care for. And so this firewatch crush isn't meant to last. If Delilah was a disrespectful ♥♥♥♥♥, she would have acted on it. But she isn't, so slow clap generator for her.
And this is a very powerful lesson for people who are really in that situation. And it leaves the player somwhat in male tears (even me at this point) :) That's what's beautiful about this ending.

This video makes me understand, not even because of what's said about the events in the video, but the connection I make with june fire, D's talking behind Henry's back saying "he doesn't have a clue" and then wanting him to burn everything down in wapiti station,
and her not wanting to meet henry at the end, it all makes sense now.
Bye ♥♥♥♥♥ :P
